So disappointed. My adult kids loved coming here when they were young. I insisted we drive 45 min for most of us but 90 min for some thinking my grandkids would get an experience similar. Not even close. $15 each for hayride with one person in costume, no pumpkin patch, no pumpkin included after an hour in line. No new decorations along the trail (really the very same decorations they had 15 years ago not even updated with fresh paint). Look around our (yours and my) neighbors put up displays that are amazing. I mean even businesses can buy a few displays for pennies in January in prep for next year. They charge admission for the chance to purchase overpriced everything. They offered photos for $25 however backdrop that was really pathic. I didn’t hesitate to purchase 9 $15 wristbands because I expected an experience in a beautiful fall setting with lots of activities and photo options along with a haunted hayride and few moments in a pumpkin patch. Save your money because although I spoke with an owner after getting off a tractor of 2 wagons with over 45 her attitude was politely she cared less about value for dollar and happy they figured out how to rake in profit for nothing with at least 3 running nonstop while she informed me of items available to reach in my pockets to overpay them for. What the advertised list fails to point out is that if it is not on the list don’t expect to find it on this farm and pare down your expectation of what is on the list. Last visit there were people in costumes along the ride and this one there is people to collect admission to a non existent farm and no lines to buy anything because everyone is waiting at cash registers to...
Read moreWould give zero stars if I could. We are so sad, but we won’t be back to Windmill unless they change their new policies. I went as a child and have been so fortunate to take my own child to Windmill for the last 11 years. Today, though, was our last day. $45 to get in for a family of 3 is nuts. Even if we didn’t want the hayride, we still would’ve had to pay $5… $5 for the privilege of entering and spending more money.
We felt so nickel and dimed the whole time we were there. You used to be able to pick out a pumpkin midway through the hayride, which was always our favorite part. They’ve taken that away because it “lets them get more people through the hayride faster,” per the hayride driver that we spoke with (ie- we can make even more money, while offering a lesser experience).
The cost of the snacks and drinks seemed exorbitant as well- $3.50 for a small styrofoam cup of apple cider?? Unfortunately, the charm this place once held has been dulled by their desire to just make money. The value for what you get for your money is just not there. All told we spent $65 to ride one hayride, eat some French fries/cookies and drink a cup of apple cider. We left without a pumpkin or any of the little decorative gourds we would’ve normally purchased because they’d already gouged us enough. Incredibly disappointed… I guess this long standing tradition has come to an end...
Read moreIt’s a bummer but everything has been affected by inflation including Windmill. It’s a tradition for our family to come here every year. We basically paid $15 per person ($45 for our small family of 3) just to ride the hayride as everything else included in that price is for small children. And to top it off you no longer get a pumpkin on the hayride. You used to stop and get out and get one in the middle of the hayride, that was my husband and sons favorite part and I always got great photos and they don’t do that anymore. We were disappointed with our trip there last year and now this year. They literally now are charging $5 per person just to walk around and go into the little market which is what we decided to only do this year because the hayride is too expensive with no pumpkin now. And there seems like less to do even to charge $5 just to enter. Bees are EVERYWHERE and I’m sorry but I shouldn’t have to pay you $5 to spend $ to buy a pumpkin and some apple butter. Clearly other people are feeling the same way as it was the least busy I have ever seen it on a Sunday with PERFECT weather in 15 years! Maybe it’s not worth nickel and diming people when that leaves a sour taste in their mouths to NEVER return and spend any $ there. Time to reevaluate what works y’all. Took one more star away for this years...
