My ex-husband and I have been customers of Mark for over 30 years. My very first diamond anything came from Cohasset jewelers. I write this review with great trepidation. I even offered Mark a chance to apologize before writing this. He declined, noting that he would rather respond to my review. See below…
I have five pieces of jewelry that have been purchased over the years at Cohasset Jewelers. All precious to me and of the highest quality for our budget. Two diamond earrings sets, a bracelet, a watch, and a bracelet. Today I went in for a bracelet, resize and clasp repair At the same time I had my aquamarine and diamond earrings checked for safety. He took the bracelet and basically said I had worn it out. He showed me the where on the pins around the diamonds and proclaimed”you should not have worn it everyday.” He then measured it and said it was stretched over 1.75” I had thought my wrist had gotten smaller and had hoped to have it resized as well as have the clasps replaced. I expected to pay for a repair.
I was surprised that he would make any sort of judgment on my wear of a piece of jewelry, but said fine let’s move forward and discuss how to fix it. He eventually said for $400 to 600 he could replace the clasp, but this was after being lambasted for wearing it every day. I in fact hadn’t worn it in years because it was obviously not a secure clasp, and it also had diamonds.
I finally made the recommended action that he melt down the extra inch and a half of chain from stretching and use that to mitigate the cost of the clasp a bit. He bristled and said I was “too hard”on my jewelry by “wearing it everyday.” I scolded him for making an issue of how often a customer wears jewelry. I told him that was truly not his business. I even tried to make light of it by laughing and commenting, some people use their fine China and silver everyday.
I left and will not be back. King’s next door replaced my watch battery. They were MORE than happy to repair “Marks’s obviously overworn jewelry.” Upon leaving I made the comment to Mark that arrogant people put themselves on billboards instead of their beautiful work. You just proved yourself! Finally managed to say what is needed in the moment. It is important that he understands what quality customer...
Read moreI went here after my 14k Gold Chain broke. I received it from my Grandmother for Graduation. I told the Woman working I dont mind how much I pay for a repair. When I came back after what seemed like almost a month, I was only charged $40 which I thought was low for a quality repair. When I looked closer I realized it was not a quality repair it was in fact a tiny ring like shape welded together attached to other parts of the chain causing it more stress. Normally chains are linked together but seperate so they can move within each others links. The chain was far more weak and snapped within the first few days because it was caught on my shirt taking it off which normally isnt enough to break a chain considering I dont yank my shirts off. My parents got their wedding ring here and I have met the owner so i seriously doubt that there is a lack of quality from this establishment. I think I was unfairly judged and lowballed for being a High School Graduate and she assumed i didnt have the money. I expressed money wasnt an issue, a repair couldnt cost more than the face value of the chain itself. I have been severely displeased with how this turned out for me. But that being said if your an adult and agressive with what you want and explicit with your instructions im sure...
Read moreMy new husband and I decided to get married this past weekend. Our original wedding date was in November but we moved it up to a private ceremony in March, because why wait?! We had already bought my wedding band from Mark at Cohasset Jewelers but still needed a wedding band for my husband. We only had one week to plan everything and most businesses, including Cohasset Jewelers, has already temporarily closed down. Since we’ve worked with Mark in the past, I knew that we wanted to go through him and hoped he could help us in a bind. I emailed Mark and he was available within the hour to open his shop, just for us. After speaking with Mark, he arrived at the shop within 15 minutes and pulled out some of his favorite options. We took his advice on the rose gold band and my new husband is in love with it. Mark and Cohasset Jewelers have become a part of our wedding story. Without his kindness and willingness to help we wouldn’t have been able to get married with our rings this past weekend. We will never shop anywhere else! Mark, expect to see us for anniversaries and birthdays....
