King Jewelers is a family owned, local jeweler near me with almost 100 years of experience. My review is so gushy I might sound affiliated, even though I’m not! King Jewelers is located on Chief Justice Cushing Highway in Cohasset, Massachusetts and after my recent experiences with them, I am confident that they are the best jewelers on the South Shore of Boston.

In terms of the coronavirus, their attention to safety during the pandemic has been above and beyond what many South Shore businesses enact and shows incredible care for their customers. After you ring the outside buzzer and it is confirmed you are wearing a mask, you can come in. Immediately upon entering there is a motion activated hand sanitizer dispenser. All employees wear masks and only two people are allowed inside at one time.

The King Jewelers family, Valerie, Victoria, June and Melissa, went about the appraisal process with respect, patience and transparency. I went to King Jewelers to have my mother’s estate jewelry appraised. The knowledgeable and professional staff at King Jewelers made the process an absolute pleasure. I went in so often, I started to like just dropping by for a visit.

They have set appraisal dates with Lori Coogan, their Certified Appraiser but were always kind enough to appraise my estate jewelry as I sorted through the gold, silver, platinum, diamond, sapphires, rubies, aquamarines, pearls and costume jewelry. The entire process was complimentary, efficient and fair. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend King Jewelers as the most trustworthy jewelry business around. In addition to jewelry appraisals their engagement rings are stunning, as are the variety of jewelry collections. I had a diamond ring repaired which came out flawlessly, and they resized several rings for me.

Don’t waste your time, go to Longs Jewelers instead, where they love what they do and it shows! Normally like to support local businesses, but will not go back to Kings. Asked for advice for getting some charms for an infant that accompanied me to make the purchase, and the OWNER acted like I was bothering her. Which is funny because we were later told how much time she spent “helping”. She threw down a few books and suggested a charm which she said were the most popular. Going off the owner’s recommendation (bc she is the “expert” and obviously more knowledgeable than Amazon) I went with what she said. This charm had to be ordered, which at the time I was not informed had a restocking fee associated if it didn’t work. When they arrived, they were way too big. Upon seeing the giant charms, we asked to return them and were told they were “special order” and could not be returned. Because adult sized charms are pointless for an infant, we convinced them to look into a return and it took two weeks to find out they would charge a restocking fee and only give a store credit for the balance of the difference. Understand on the restocking fee, but now you’re holding us hostage to use your store credit when you couldn’t even be bothered to truly help in the first place. Talked to the other owner about this who said “we are experts” yet they failed to have any knowledge of their custom products or the faintest hint of customer...

Our experience at Kings has been exceptional. I met the King sisters Val & Vicky around 15 years ago after the birth of my first daugher. I purchased an eternity band and was struck at the level of professionalism way back then. Nothing has changed in 15 years. We recently purchased my engagement ring & wedding rings. Val created something custom that was exactly what we wanted while staying in our budget. The ring was also done super fast to accommodate the engagement weekend. There are a few things that stand out. They give great direction and really are experts in gemology. They are looking to please you and work with any budget. They are the perfect combo of professionalism and your best friend because of the amount of love they pour into each customer. Kings is family owned. They have a reputation that can’t be beat, decades of exceptional service and clients for life. When Val couldn’t be there the day we ordered wedding rings she called in via zoom video to see us and still be a part of the day.
