I started the veterinary program here and I feel like the whole thing was a bait and switch. I was promised financial aid as I am 22 years old and have been on my own for years. I have had two dads pass away during my life. My mom does get some money from them passing away and I do not see one dime of it. I went into this semester based on the estimates from the FAFSA site and from the speaking to the Colby financial aid office, which indicated that I would receive a Pell Grant. After already starting classes the financial aid office sent me an email about accepting a loan for $15,000. When I inquired about this and what had happened to the grant, I was then told my mom made too much money and that she should contribute the money to cover the grant. I was in an abusive relationship and my scaphoid bone was broken. I just had surgery a few months ago and I have collection agencies calling me, but I had to have the surgery or I could never have worked again. I don't want to live off of disability, I want to do better for my life. CCC and the Vice President Brad Bennet did nothing to help this dream but lead me on and not respond to my...
Read moreThe dental program there is top notch. I'm very grateful to Jordan and her instructors who made me feel at ease and comfortable, in a dental suite, I know right? I'm always nervous and anxious when I go to the dentist for anything. But everyone was so polite and caring, I couldn't believe it was a classroom. I've been to "professional" dentists that could learn some lessons from Jordan and her instructors. I had my Xrays taken and I'm being scheduled for a cleaning. I got good news from the dentist as well. He said I have strong bones and teeth and he complimented me on how young I look for my age. I assured him that it was my reckless abuse of drugs and alcohol that had kept me looking great through the years, but now that I've been in recovery for a decade, I guess my visage haven't waned. So much for the "Portrait of Dorian Grey" idea I had going. Anyway, avail yourself of Free Xrays and a dental hygiene checkup and cleaning at the Colby Community College. It will be a pleasant surprise to your mouth and your wallet and...
Read moreEverything about this place is stressful except the Vet Tech Program itself. based on fall 2017-spring 2019. filthy, moldy dorm rooms, poor dorm maintenance support (sewage backed up in the dorm, students left to clean up raw sewage), student workers in the business offices are poorly trained and rude. Terrible customer service. These are just a few of our experiences. Was glad to be finished with the school and the town (poor motel experiences). As a whole, customer service was lacking everywhere which is sad, since Colby is a town where most people stopping off there will never be back. They are just passing through. I had decided to just put it behind us and move on until I had to call the college for tax forms today and I experienced it all over again. They have some great programs, too bad they are not...
