If I could leave zero stars, I would. ER staff is very rude, and nurses and doctors seem incompetent. I received way better care at University Health Services than this place and they prove to be way more credible than this place will ever be. Most of your front desk staff and admitting staff act like they don't want to be there - I realize they have to deal with a lot of people but you knew that going in so DEAL WITH IT. I once went in to get seen for a really bad headache from a bad cold I had, and a swollen foot that wouldn't stop throbbing in pain. The nurse's comment was "well if your head wasn't hurting would you have even come here in the first place for your foot?" Excuse me? What kind of comment is that?? I couldn't even wear a shoe my foot was so big so what do you think?
When they took blood, no blood would come out. The lady said "You must be a drinker" Again, what kind of comment is that?? That's RUDE. Turns out she wasn't even close to my vein when she poked me and she thought it was funny. She had to poke me in both arms just to get blood.
The last time I dealt with you (because you know third time is always a charm...NOT), I needed a minor surgery. Your doctor who I believe her name was Amanda (and her assistant or whoever she was) were treating the process as if it were a joke. It was a procedure where I was awake, and she told me if i'm in too much pain during the procedure tell her to stop. They were supposed to "numb" me, but I was in so much pain I felt like I was going to pass out and told her to stop. Guess who didn't listen. I went to University Health Services a week after and I told the doctor there EXACTLY what the doctor at Mount Nittany Medical Center told me. The doctor at UHS was so confused by what she was hearing. At the ER, the doctor who performed the procedure blamed me for causing the problem that I had when it was in fact an internal issue that can't be caused by someone, and that other information that was told to me doesn't even exist. I went to my home doctor for a second opinion and was told the same thing that University Health Services told me.
People that work here just don't care and think that everything's a joke. I've never received such horrible care. This place makes the hospitals in my hometown seem amazing. I HIGHLY agree with others who comment here saying its recommended for people in the area to take their money elsewhere, and don't waste your time with this awful place! These people treat everything like its a joke and just want their paychecks to look pretty with no regards to patients feelings. I'm surprised I even gave you guys so many chances because usually if service is not satisfactory the first time, I...
Read moreUpdate 8/1/2019 Another trip to the ER. I messed my back up again at camp and was in a a lot of pain, The doctor and nurses were also great again. I am again baffled with all the bad ratings this ER and hospital gets, I don't get it. I was seen quickly by a nurse and the doctor that made me very comfortable. With the symptoms and my medical history the doctor wasted no time in ordering a MRI of my back, in my opinion this ER/Hospital went above and beyond in my treatment. Now my family doctor has everything he needs to send me right to the back specialist doctor to see what my best options are. Doing the MRI for me saved me a lot of time and pain. My 5 stars stands, I would highly recommend Mount Nittney Hospital/ ER, I've never had a bad experience on my many visits there.
I don't understand why this hospital get such a low number with the reviews. I have been in their ER quite a few times and have always got great treatment. My latest visit was a oddball one where I had pain like I did before but no reason for the pain as it mimicked a issue i had with gallbladder and pancreatitis. I needed to have the gallbladder removed, that operation went well with no complications. The ER doctor and radiology continued to do more imaging tests, three in all. They found a kidney tumor in my right kidney and set an appointment for me to see a area urologist that I saw a few days later. I am very grateful to the ER doctor and radiology for there work getting to the bottom of what was wrong. They found a very small stage one tumor that was not there last time I was seen by them when I had pain from a kidney stone. They found it in its early stage and I am getting it removed in short order. I get to keep my kidney, removing the bad stuff and leaving the good. The bottom line is I am very lucky due to the ER staff at Mount Nittany Medical Center:...
Read moreWithout a star, I can't submit my review. So 1 star. I am sure there are enough negative review, but it seems it never awakes the management to look into the issues. In my experience, this is a place full of "I don't know" and “self-center” care. Slogan “I don’t know” - From the question "Why do you prescribe capsules to a toddler patient with G-tube?" "I don't know." to the question "The pharmacy told me that there's no script sent for the high 200mg pain reliever from yesterday's ER visit. Why?" "I don't know". I and my son’s home nurse took my son to the ER. After we exchanged the fever situation emerged within 24 hours with the ER doctor. The ER doctor can prescribe Tamiflu but prefer to recommend "200 mg Ibuprofen" and "200 mg Tylenol". I asked "if it's your preference, please send the script to the pharmacy as the insurance will cover them and the home nurse agency can have a record." He confirmed the pharmacy but never sent. I called and waited for a call back to explain why not oral suspension (vs. capsules) and why the script wasn’t sent. Her first response was “I don’t know”. Then I said, “can you look into it?”. After 30 minutes waiting, she called back and said, “those items are over counter, we can’t give you the order”. I said, “what kind of doctor can’t write a script for what he said would work? Also, like I said, 200 mg is not in oral suspension form, high for a toddler, CVS wants a script. Over-counter one is 100 mg. Not to mention my son is only 42 lbs.” Then she said, “The order is for your personal need, you don’t need an order to pick up the medicine. So we can’t do it for you. You can make an appointment with your primary doctor and get a script there.” Seriously? My personal need?! This response says a lot about the staff’s knowledge and compassion. No wonder, empty waiting...
