I saw so many animals here, especially so many rabbits!! I even caught a mammal swimming which might have been a young beaver but it was hard to tell and it went under the water as soon as it noticed me. The nature center certainly seems to be effective at its efforts to conserve the marsh ecosystem, given all the animals I saw. The boardwalks are nice because you don’t have to worry about brush overgrowth or muddy areas in the path. However I was disappointed that the boardwalk which connects the front & back of the property was out of service when I visited, as well as the bird blind in the middle of the marsh. It’s also cool that this park connects to other parks as well as a bike trail that connects different parts of town so it’s easier for people to visit the nature center. They could use more signage at the beginning of trails to make the trailheads clear for hikers.

Lovely beautiful tranquil quiet. These are all words to describe this haven right outside the city of state college. It's a large series of elevated wooden walkways that takes you through the marsh and bridges that take you over the many streams. There is also informational panels scattered around teaching about the marsh and all the fauna and flora that thrive in the environment. Is a perfect place to take a date or just a walk to see the beauty of nature. It's also almost a completely different place depending on the time of year you go but it's always spectacular.

This Nature Center offers free entry to boardwalk and grass trails around a marsh, that will take about 4000 steps to complete. There's a spot where 3 little streams meet, and a nice variety of native marsh plantings and trees. There's an outdoor art display along the trail with paintings created by kids and adults. On my visit, part of the boardwalk trail was closed for renovations. By the entrance, stop in to visit the gated pollinator garden. There's a free gravel parking lot for visitors, and the Center is close to the Penn State campus.

The boardwalk in this park used to be a very fun very interesting and very well-maintained trip through the marsh.

Unfortunately they've let the weeds grow all over the place. The only real trails are the ones that are beaten down by people's feet. Large sections of the boardwalk are closed making it impossible to complete a circuit around the marsh and in fact really it's just not well maintained at all anymore.

Where you used to be able to get a good probably two miles you can now maybe get a half mile. If you want to walk further through the marsh you have to walk up on a paved bike path, then around along the road to the other side of the boardwalk. Boardwalk itself is rotting, the planks are getting splintery and treacherous, and the Center Park and Recreation staff seems to think that it's adequate to maintain this by posting signs rather than doing actual repairs.

Sorry but I can't recommend this place anymore. It's barely a shadow of what...

It's beautiful place no matter what I can't lie. But as far as some of the conditions I noticed involving the walk way were pretty rough. The beginning of the walkway it looked uneven like going around the corner some it felt sideways like it was tilting and going to fall into the water. There was also a big gash in the wood walkway going towards the bird watching box and there was 2 huge bees nest up above inside the box as well. We had to keep turning around because towards the end of the walkway it was flooded with mud and really big puddles of water you couldn't go around in any way because you would slip in the mud. And stepping through it wasn't even an option because the water would go through or in my shoes. It was a nice experience other then...
