I really want to like this store. The selection is clean and well organized, and I've always found a few things that are nice. However, the thing I really truly can't stand is that no matter what the item is marked, I have had cashiers change the price of items upon check out to be much higher than stated. This has happened on 4 separate occasions. The comments to me have been akin to: "This item is SO nice, so high quality, it can't possibly be $4. I need to go ask the manager in the back what they want to mark it at." They go talk to the manager, they then come back and tell me it's $6, or $15, or $8. It wastes my time, and leaves me disappointed. I recently picked up a pair of shoes in their cheaper section, took them to the counter where the checkout woman told me "These are really nice. They are $6. Take them or leave them, if you don't want them, that's fine, but that's the price." I asked : "Why are they $6? They weren't marked specially, they were in the cheaper shoe section. Why?" She responded "They're clearly a designer shoe. We charge $6 for nice shoes." Color me baffled, and frustrated. If that is the case, SVP - PLEASE have things clearly marked with the price you intend to charge, and don't switch things at the counter! This IS NOT just a case of a customer moving the item to an area it doesn't belong. This is in relation to more recognized brands (under armour, nike, etc) not being marked higher, being questioned at the checkout area, and the price being raised.
It is discouraging and frustrating to carefully pick items in the store, in the knowledge that they are a specific price and have the price raised at check out. What a disappointment! I'll be shopping at other thrift stores with clearly stated prices in the future, to avoid...
Read moreNot as big as Goodwill, but the prices are better and they give more money to charity. Definitely recommend donating your stuff here instead of Goodwill. Not Catholic, but a HUGE fan of all of the great work they do to help the less fortunate!
I also like that they have a free box for items that aren't worth selling (e.g. little nick knacks, slower moving books, anything with minor flaws, etc., so unlike other thrift stores, they don't throw stuff away. I've scored some great finds from the free box!
They also try to reuse bags, so if you don't bring a reusable bag, they have reposed bags for you. Very environmentally conscious!
Some of the prices are a bit off because they have a very specific pricing system. All pants are $3 or all kids items are $1. Certain color tags are X amount off (depending on the day.) They tend to stick to this system instead of factoring in...
Read moreWe came to donate a wardrobe of quality clothing from an estate and they wanted to go through everything and cherry pick and could see there were nice quality clothing at which time I said either you want the clothes or you don't. They said they have too much, yet roght before my eyes they were taking in clothes from other people as I stood & watched. Just because I show up with more bags of clothing than most people they have "too much" inventory, yet with other people they don't? I don't have time for games and nonsense like this... The Salvation Army will get all the clothing donations from our clients in the future. They are truly a charity work that helps people in so many...
