Crowne at Briargate Apartments — Local services in Colorado Springs

I have lived here for a little over a year now and have been in 3/4 buildings. This will be a long review and multi sectioned.

Build Quality: 2/5 Having lived in three out of the four buildings here the consistency of build quality is massively inconsistent. Baseboards are 1X4's, textured walls mixed with very low quality paint makes them impossible to clean, have had multiple walls that are not square to the rest of the apartment. I was recently moved from my second apartment to a third after a major incident flooded me out of my last apartment, more on this later. After I was moved into this third apartment I noticed that my laundry closet is about 3 inches smaller then my old one (same floor plan just flipped in orientation). The current building I am in faces Powers, I can hear cars in my apartment as if the windows are wide open, with that being said I would avoid any apartment that is facing west. I have witnessed several windows being mounted differently (in their assembled alignment) often you cannot properly latch windows without bearing your weight on them. A temporary apartment I was in after my previous was flooded had a door so misaligned it would close on its own. There are positives though, the counter tops, cabinets, appliances, and other various finishes are very appealing. Bedrooms and closets are often spacious though I do wish there was a larger closet for coats and cleaning supplies along with some sort of interior storage as nothing can be stored on patios. Floors as expected are not creaky and I rarely hear anyone else through my walls. I will say if someone lives above you with kids, you will hear their feet.

Amenities: 4/5* This is only a 4 due to the pool only being 3ft deep. Other then that I love the outdoors grilling areas, pet spa, gym, business center, and gathering area. Yes most are closed due to COVID and while I understand the pool I do not understand the closing of the outdoor grilling areas. I have never seen more then one person using the grills so unless this is a non-negotiable corporate decision I am confused. Especially considering the gym and business center is open. The gym is very well equipped for an apartment complex offering a majority of what you would need for a thorough workout. I wish the business center was not full of Mac's as a variety of programs I would use in there are not compatible with Mac's. These areas are kept well clean and are tastefully decorated. Grilling area has very nice gas grills that where kept well clean last I used them. Aside from halls within the buildings the grounds are kept very clean. They do offer a "valet trash" program that is non optional although I would like to see people take more pride in where they live, given the price. If you have pets there are pet stations around the complex with waste bags, these are normally never over flowing and regularly stocked. There was an issue last year and early this year of people leaving pet waste out in excess and it was a major problem. This has been solved by both the maintenance team and residents.

Office Staff: 5/5 They have always been amazing to me and very reasonable with helping me through various issues and transferring from a one bedroom to a two bedroom apartment. I cannot find a negative thing to say about them. I do believe the property manager needs an assistant, desperately. After my apartment was flooded I had a conversation with her where I could tell she was beyond stressed. They are always responsive and will go the extra mile (within reason)

Maintenance team: 5/5 I cannot say enough good about Drew, he leads an excellent team and has a massive uphill battle. It appears they spend most of their time fixing or attempting to fix the massive amounts of construction inconsistencies and short comings. Drew specifically was in contact with me every day post my apartment flooding keeping me updated on moving into a new apartment and helping to rectify the issue at hand. Only note is that I hope all apartments have or will be inspected for the defect that caused...

There have been dozens of car break ins and on several occasions including my truck due to poor safety measures, I’ve lost thousands. They replace things that are damaged with used or cheap parts or sometimes even both. Don’t try to call half they don’t answer majority of the time. Water flooding and smell of smoke don’t classify as emergencies. Do you buy things online? Expect not to get them a majority of the time. People will steal them from your door and the mail services don’t care where your product goes. It gets delivered to other people and they claim it for themselves. Emails also pertain to noise violations but in summer don’t expect peace. Once that pools open up and schools out you will hear everything, I know kids are kids but if your kid is screaming at the top of their lungs for hours everyday at the pool you should probably do something about it and talk to your Due to the several break ins in under a year of being here I asked if they were putting up a gate or more cameras or maybe put more cameras in the building and that’s not something he wants to do or will do. Even after dozens of his residents lost hundreds to thousands even tens of thousands of dollars EACH he and management are unwilling to try to keep our apartment complex safe. When asking the manager he said he doesn’t claim to advertise our apartment complex as “safe”. WOW! So someone could get hurt or worse and he wouldn’t care in the world because it’s not the cheapest option. In simple terms he and management are slumlords. They fix things with cheap and used parts and get rude and arrogant when confronted about those problems. I have been here for under 11 months, near 9 of which I didn’t have a functioning window. I asked every month about it and was told it takes time. Once I said I was going to sue for it being a safety problem and it being illegal they replaced the window the next day. Turns out they had my window for months but “didn’t get around to it” due to being forgetful and being not important. It may look nice on the inside but everything in the apartment is cheap and flimsy besides the countertop and fireplace. Floor is noisy in some spots, cabinets and basically everything in the apartment are cheap, appliances are majority used and due to design flaws with the structure of the apartment building I get an old, outdated, and used dryer. Once that dry broke due to being used and old they brought in a nice modern one. Then switched the nice one with a used old one a few minutes later. The more you spend to the slum lord the better you get I guess. Every appliance and basic component in this apartment has had problems; shower, sinks, disposal, fridge, washer, dryer, dishwasher, and even the A/C. Also not all the elevators work. My buildings elevator breaks on a monthly basis. Trying to use the carts for groceries? Yea good luck finding one since people keep them in their apartment. The day I saw the most carts was the day before we had fire alarm testing. So at the end of the day the only thing this complex does well is its monthly events like Christmas parties, food trucks, and different seasonal events. If you work a 9-5 don’t expect to be able to attend. This apartment complex is a serious joke and very greatly false advertises their quality and product. From cheap maintenance parts, to rude arrogant service from management, to lack of safety, management needs to be ashamed and should be fired. You can read previous reviews. These problems aren’t going away anytime soon. These problems have been here since the opening of this failure of an apartment complex. I promise if you care about yourself and your family don’t come here. I’m counting down the days until I move. If you want a better apartment I highly recommend Enchanted springs or Volta at voyager. I really wish I had gone to one of them. Please do yourself a favor and go to one of those 2 places. You will be beyond happy that you did. Full review in pictures due to review...

UPDATE 3 First make sure you wait to post any negative reviews until you leave or they will treat you like complete and utter garbage and put your name on their "list" of difficult renters. Second make sure you have a legally binding signature on both sides whenever you go to them about something. They will say whatever someone else said isn't valid. They will screw you every way to Sunday. Please learn from my mistake.

UPDATE 2 There has been yet another break in. And once again instead of putting money where it's needed(security and safety) they are spending money left and right to make the apartments look nice. So at least you'll have pretty scenery as your getting your things stolen and cars broken into left and right. 9/13

UPDATE Instead of making the community safer by adding better cameras or making it gated to prevent more cars being broken into they decided to repave the pavement even though it's in great condition and nowhere near needing to be fixed

I have never been so disgusted with a place or people in my life.

SAFETY It is not safe here in the slightest. There's been 5 separate cases of vehicle break ins and vandalism on multiple vehicles in the 11 months ive lived here. Packages are stolen right off your doorstep. Not to mention a neighbor had come banging on our door so hard and cosistently that I was afraid it would break down. They say they have cameras in the parking lot but the video feed is so blurry the police said it's useless.

They refuse to do anything to make this place better/safer. No newer better cameras, security or even a gate. They don't want to spend any money unless someone is going to sue.

We were stuck in an apartment with only 1 window that was inoperable for 8 months and the only reason they fixed is when we said we'd sue since our apartment was unlivable and illegal to rent because there is not 2 exits in the bedroom.

The elevator is constantly breaking. Thankfully I have not been in it when it's broken down but I'm counting down the days.

STAFF The staff are all really nice and accommodating until you sign. Then there's a 180 flip.

The manager is an aggressive arrogant slumlord who says you're lying anytime you bring a concern or problem to him or the others in the office. And doesn't fix anything, he will yell at you until you back down and leave.

The maintaince live on site in case there's emergencies but don't bother calling if you have one. Our dishwasher started spraying water out everywhere and we called the emergency line. Got sent to voicemail twice before someone picked up and said they'd be over. 20 minutes later he arriv3d and at that point we'd turned the dishwasher off and mopped up a bunch of water. He arrived told us it wasn't an emergency or anything to worry about and that nothing was wrong with it but he'd put in an order for it. The following day turned out he lied to the manager about everything that happened.

Our dryer only works at 1/2 capacity. I have to redry my 3 towels for over 3 hours for them to not be wet and only slightly damp and yet again maintenance told the front office we were lying and that our dryer was perfectly fine. This place is run by incompetent and lazy liars. If you have any problems good luck getting it fixed.

I hope you don't make the same mistake I did. Based on all the other negative reviews I'm fully expecting to get a several hundred dollar bill to "fix" things that were in perfect condition when we leave. For what they charge you, anywhere else would be better to live then here. Save yourself a ton of money, time and frustration and go...
