Mac's Discount (formerly Super Buys) — Local services in Columbia

I have always loved this store, but need to share an experience I had today that may keep me from going back in for awhile. I was very rudely asked/told to leave my cart at the front of the store while I looked at furniture because "another customer damaged a chair". This was said in earshot of the customer who had dinged up the chair and I know she felt terrible. I also overheard two associates discussing a child who had been in the store in a not so professional way. The same associate who had been rude about my cart also told my young son that masks are optional (none of the staff, that I saw, were wearing masks). I agree that masks are personal preference, but I do not want a store associate telling my son that and undoing the talks we have had at home. All of the associates at the counter were very helpful, friendly and professional. Everything was well organized and there were good deals as always. I hope the management will train some of the associates in customer service skills and proper workplace behavior, and if they have cart restrictions in certain areas, I hope they make some signage to...

Super Buys is one of my favorite places to shop due to their variety of products and constantly changing inventory. They also have a Facebook group where they post pictures of items that were stocked that day/week. They are pretty responsive to questions on Messenger. There have been times when I've visited several weeks in a row, and they have different items each time. Their prices and sales are fantastic as well (30-50% or more off retail). They carry a lot of Amazon and Target brand products, which is nice. The staff is very friendly, and I always look forward to Super Buys...

Went in to see what they had and my high school son who is 14 needed to use the bathroom and I was told I would have to go with him I thought the woman was joking but sure enough she was serious. Then the old lady maybe the manager or owner explained I wouldn’t have to go in but wait by the door. No I’m sorry if you don’t feel like you can let people in to the bathrooms just post a sign saying no public restrooms. I haven’t had to escort my son to the bathroom since he was a child. We left everything in the cart...
