As a single mom I bought a $200 washer. The men at habitat helped me load it but me and my mother struggled to unload it and get it into my house (the thing weighed about 230lbs). The washer did not work. I then had to pay help to get it back to the store where they told me they would credit me the $200 (they wrote it in a spiral notebook). They told me I could use it anytime. Unfortunately habitat for humanity is open only during the hours I work so I had to buy a washer els where. A few months later I called to check on my credit to be told they didn't have the books anymore and that I would have only had 30 days to use my credit.
