Wow! Didn't want to try this place but my grandmother wanted to go for her birthday lunch. We arrived with atleast 5 servers looking at us standing by a wait to be seated sign. After about 2min one of them came and got us and placed us at a table. Our server (can't remember her name) took our order. They give you pickles onions and lemons to snack on before your entrée arrives. I am not used to that but it was ok. So let me cut to the chase. The food arrived and off the bat I knew everything was not fresh seafood but frozen and recooked. Im from Florida so I have tasted fresh seafood and this wasn't even close. They give you a 3 oz to go ramekin of slaw which KFC puts Rose hills to shame. I ordered the seafood platter wnd the best tasting thing was the fries. My fish was over cooked my oysters tasted old as well as the shrimp and the scallops weren't fresh. By the way if you are expecting yiur food to have any kind of taste you will be disappointed. Service started out good until parties came in then it just went down hill. I waited for 15 min after I stacked the plates and cleaned the table until I had to literally flag down my server for our check. My bill was 28 and some change so I thought. Being that my grandmother is up in age she needed to use the restroom so I turned my AC on in the car and returned inside to waite for her. Our server came to apologize not for the horrible service but that she made me pay for someone elses food. She said ( YOU SAW A WHOLE LOT OF STANDIND AROUND AND NO ONE HELPED ME). Thats no excuse for poor service she should have gotten the manager if she couldnt handle her tables. So she had to get a manager to make me pay the correct amount which was 7 dollars more. The first transaction our server was left 1 dollar but I wish I hadn't left anything. The manager totally blamed the server. (She needs to look at it before she gives it to you). I dont want to hear you bad mouth your employees! I want to see your a#@ on the floor running your business. This place sucks I have no idea why people even pay their hard earned money for an experience like this. I will never return to this restaurant nor will I let anyone I know go there. I am a restuarant manager here in Columbus it is my responsibilty to take care of ky guests and servers and I visit every table. Im not in my office while my service suffers stay away...
Read moreI live out of town and I’d never eaten at Rose Hill Seafood but a friend suggested it for lunch so we met. I was shocked after a wait for our food, first the waitress had about as much personally as a door. I know people in the industry are working hard but I know my tip depends on the attitude of the service also. Then we ordered raw oysters, we both got 1/2 a dozen and both tray of oysters were almost warm not cold at all so we were scared to eat them. No we did not send them back. Then as we waited we witness a lot of things going on that almost caused us to walk out ( neither will ever go back there to eat ). The waitress poured the clean silverware on a large table and never wiped the table off prior to pouring clean silverware on the table. Then with no gloves they wrapped the silverware with napkins. Several servers got up and did other things coming back never washing hands and no gloves. Other things went on that caused us concern. We ate about 1/2 our meal and left. Prices were good but the service and unsanitary things going on left us with a bad taste in our mouth. Several other tables were talking about the same thing around us. One customer, from another table, as we were checking out ask the cashier about it and she blew them off saying they passed their last inspection. How I do not know !! I overheard a table of 2 saying they would not be back either and a single lady across the isle said she would be reporting these things to the health department also. I know things are hard and help is hard to find but how these things got by an inspector if they come in and actually sat down to eat a meal and observe not just walk in and do a...
Read moreI came on a very busy day. Parking is always crazy because of limited space and high volume of business.i usually buy raw and cook at home but today i wanted to try the restaurant side.
I placed my order, specifying that i only cared for shrimp and the side items were whatever. Not a lot of shrimp selection and no combination plates. Basically, there's a 6 piece shrimp or a 12 piece shrimp and it comes with sides. I chose 12pc with baked potato, coleslaw, hushpuppies and cocktail sauce. I received my "to go" meal about 25 minutes later.
It came with tarter sauce. It was good tarter sauce, good pickle flavor and pronounced onion flavor but i prefer cocktail sauce to the mayonnaise base. The shrimp were fully deveined, artfully breaded and cooked very well. Crispy not really greasy. The hushpuppies were good sized and well cooked. The coleslaw is decent just a bit watery. It's southern style with cabbage, carrot, mayo, and celery seed.
Unfortunately, the shrimp was not seasoned. The hushpuppies had good smell but no flavor. My meal was a tick over $15 without a drink. Honestly, after i tasted my shrimp i went straight to Popeyes for some seasoned shrimp and i asked for extra sauce so i could at least dip the Rosehill shrimp in some flavor. I probably won't come back to the restaurant side but no hard feelings. My tastebuds are just...
