First I want to say thank you to Kathy or Kathleen for apologizing on her part of this terrible situation. I came to this Food Lion to pick up certain foods because I just found out that my niece that lives with me is on a special diet after being in and out of the hospital. I also had to grab some personal products for my daughter that I placed in a different bag. While I was shopping on aisle 8, a coworker looked at me and said that I wouldn't do that. I was confused and asked her, do what? She continued to look at me and I believe she even followed me around. I continue to shop for all the items I needed and went to register #1. I noticed that my husband had our debit card and I asked the cashier if I could manually put in the debit card information. She explained that they could not do that and I understood why. I called my husband to come met me at Food Lion and bring our debit card. While waiting, I placed my cart in an area where it was out of the way of other customers. I also decided to switch out a certain item that I explained to cmthe cashier. When I came back to my cart to put the item in my cart, another lady asked me really loudly if I had already paid for that, I said no, the cashier say no as well and that I was waiting for my husband. She continued to tell me to put my item in the cart, which it was already in the cart. At this point I am beyond confused and many customers have heard her yell at me. A nice customer even came up and apologized for that lady and that I will be ok because I started crying. I was extremely embarrassed and emotional. Personally, I have had so many trails and tribulations happen in my family that it's hard to even leave the house. This was my first outing in awhile because I am disabled and suffer with many health issues. The manager that was on shift apologized for everything, even the cashier on #1 apologized when both of them were nothing be very kind to me. When the other lady apologized, I felt like it was really sincere and it was a misunderstanding. I would really like an apology from the lady on aisle 8 that really make me very uncomfortable and awkward by staring at me and not answering my question. Unfortunately I don't believe that I will come back to shop at Food Lion due to this experience. I was being treated like I was not a person and was yelled at and ignored. You never know what someone is going through, I wish everyone would be patient and kind to all. The lady at cashier #1 was fantastic and helped me a lot, the manager on duty today from 2:30 until 3:30 was also very sincere and helpful. Also the lady that got loud at me was very sincere when she apologized and I do feel better now. Sounds like a long story and maybe most people wouldn't let that get to them but again, it was so much deeper than that and I couldn't smile and act like I was ok with what was going on, I totally broke down in built up emotions and tears. I hope these people are trained on how to treat customers better and grown within...
Read moreI recommend sending your employees through orientation again. Me and my partner went to purchase a large bag of dog food. My partner decided he wanted to break a one hundred dollar bill whilst paying for the bag of food. I assume Food Lion checks their bills by marker. The young man cashier takes the marker and soaks the marker through the bill and rips a hole in it and proceeds to claim our bill was fake. (The bill was received from a local bank.) I then tell him the serial number is visible, the blue strip is flexible, and the strip is visible, and the bill reads under a black light. So, he then calls a bookkeeper over and this man says the exact same thing. So, we then grab another one hundred dollar bill and they claim the same statement. I understand maybe one bill being marked wrong, but two? I work at a neighboring grocery store and have been taught how to read fake/real bills. I do respect policies but when they’re coming in the way of people’s purchases, it’s quite unfortunate. Very disappointing that hired cashiers in today’s time can’t even...
Read moreI recommend having a food Lion card to take full advantage of any and all discounts and offers they may have. Clean building, well stocked, helpful staff. Conveyors at checkout are maintained and kept clean with barriers at checkout for added safety. Now that I think of it I very rarely get a gimpy shopping cart. I feel like almost anybody will understand what it means to have a gimpy shopping cart lol and that doesn't seem to be an issue here. Also was very pleasantly surprised at how well maintained the restrooms are. Speaking as a person who's not the biggest fan of public restrooms, I wish more were as clean as this one. It is my go to grocery store, and for me that says a lot because I am quite fussy about the condition of the vegetables and meats I purchase. I promise I have the ability to complain when necessary, but I can't even go Karen...
