Wow! Talk about going above and beyond, I would give the folks here 10 stars if I could! Hands down THE best mechanic shop I've even been to, if I lived anywhere else I'd never go anywhere else.
So last Wed morning I was driving pass the area on the interstate while my car started struggling, the check engine light came on and there was an acute loss in power. I called around and was told Steve Shannon was my best bet to have the car checked out asap. After pulling the codes they found that the car was misfiring due to oil leak through the valve cover gasket. They changed the plugs and one of the ignition coil and sent me on my way.
However, as it turned out, the oil leak was more serious and had by then clogged up the catalytic converter, so the car was still not drivable. This was early Wed afternoon and I immediately headed back to the shop. Jason, who was the mechanic working on my car, spend the rest of the day diagnosing the problem, hoping to find a quick fix so I can at least get going, including drilling a bunch of holes in the exhaust to try burning the oil off and out. They stayed back an hour after the shop closed and did everything they could, but the conclusion was that I probably needed a new cat and they'll have to do that the next day.
I came back the next day and they spend the better part of the day working on my car. After disassembling the exhaust, they decided it will take quite extensive work and would be cost prohibitive giving the age and mileage on my car. So as a temporary measure, they drilled some holes in the cat so I can at least get home. The most amazing part was, Greg the manager decided to not charge me at all for about a whole day of labor! This was mid Thursday afternoon, and I drove about 200 miles back home without a problem.
In a world where people worry about mechanics taking advantage of what's an already stressful situation, it's surprising to find these guys who are not just honest and extremely friendly, but would go beyond what is expected to help you out. Again, I can't say enough good things and would recommend this shop to anyone. All the best to Greg and Jason and everyone else, keep up the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI stopped by around 1:40 PM 7/25/24 and spoke with Bryan, stating that I need to replace my rear breaks on my Civic. I was told to come back the following morning @ 7:30 AM. There was four people in front of me and about five behind, when the door opened. I had to stay with my car, so I was aware of the comings and goings. It was about four hours till my car was taken by the mechanic, Brandon. I found him to be pleasant and effective. I soon discovered that the wrong rotars were ordered. Oh yeah, the asst. mgr., Bryan, waited four hours to order my breaks. So, I had to wait even longer for the correction to be made. I was there for over SIX HOURS! I had to process this experience over the weekend, and I can only summarize this experience as a colossal failure. I heard the asst. mgr. be very rude and dismissive to a customer whose car was already there. The only magazines to look at were about guns & ammo. I heard him say, "I can't engage with some of my friends about politics because I'll punch them in the face." And for me, there's a possibility there was intent NOT to put my vehicle in rotation. Everyone before & after had come and gone, so it's hard not to take it personally. Plus, there was very little effort, by the asst. mgr., to acknowledge and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSteve Shannon has been inspecting my vehicles very successfully for years. However, this last inspection has left a bad taste in my mouth, and I won't be returning. I was told that there was a bulb out and the wipers were bad, I agreed and they replaced them. However, my driver's door window has been inoperative for some time, and they passed it last year. This year they said it couldn't be passed without repairing it. When I asked the manager why they passed it previously, he shrugged. He said emergency egress is needed from the vehicle, and the cost was over $400. I spoke to several active police officers and a few other inspection stations, and they all confirmed this was simply a money making ploy. I accepted the failed inspection and took my vehicle elsewhere, it passed flawlessly. If you are going to get ANY work done at this location, I would at least do yourself the service of a second opinion before agreeing to it. Or better yet, just go elsewhere to begin with. I won't be...
