Read moreBest Waterfalls in Eastern US. Seemingly a secret treasure of Tennessee, this place is not advertised, not well known but has breathtaking beauty. There is a good trail to reach the largest and most beautiful portion, a good refreshing exercise break while traveling. During the summer it is very inviting to wade into the clear shallow waters of a flat rock bottom river, (obviously not after a heavy rain for safety) Due to lack of publicity and the fact you can safely enter the water, you enjoy the scene with less people making it a rival with Niagara, more secluded. In comparison with other well known falls in the US, Tahquamenon Falls in the Upper Peninsula may have its beauty, but after a long drive, we were attacked by mosquitoes and quickly retreated back to the vehicle, this may be seasonal, but perhaps Tahquamenon would be better to see uring a windy day to keep away the mosquitoes. Burgess Falls is well worth the drive, a great place to visit and revisit over the years, a great place for family photos and perhaps a nice wedding venue or backdrop for a sacred...
Read moreIf you enjoy kayaking and are curious about how to reach Burgess Falls, the best route is from Center Hill Lake. There are several access points around the lake, where you can launch your kayak. The paddle to Burgess Falls typically takes about 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on your starting point and water conditions.

Be sure to check the water elevation at the dam before heading out. During the summer, lower water levels can make it difficult to reach the falls by kayak alone. In those cases, you might need to carry your kayak for a few yards or leave it at a safe spot along the shore and walk the rest of the way to the base of the falls.
If mornings aren’t an option, late afternoon can also be a peaceful time to visit, with fewer crowds and...
