Bandon Beach Riding Stables — Local services in Coos Bay

What a wonderful experience! My husband and I decided to take our 9yo kiddos for their first horseback riding experience, and Bandon Stables did NOT disappoint. We showed up about 20 minutes before our scheduled ride, and everyone was incredibly friendly, thoroughly explaining safety policies, how to ride and lead our horses, the plan for the ride, etc. I felt spoiled, since the horses were all ready to go when we arrived, so we just got to ride - a far cry from childhood memories of having to saddle up before a ride, and removing all of the equipment and cleaning up afterwards!

Cassie was an excellent guide, giving us friendly direction every step of the way, and keeping an eye on all of our horses to coach us when we needed to distance the horses, speed up, slow down, etc. It provided a lot of reassurance to the littles’ father and I, as we are both well aware of how powerful these majestic horses are, and how quickly they can get spooked...as can kids, for that matter!

There were 7 other reservations that were supposed to join our ride, but they never showed up - no call, nothing to let the good folks at Bandon Stables know they weren’t coming. We were thankful to have a private ride, just the four of us, but I felt so bad for the staff who spent all of that time saddling up horses for people who completely flaked. So incredibly disrespectful. Don’t be those people. Based on witnessing that experience alone, Bandon Stables deserves every right to require a deposit for reservations, which they definitely should, since there are so many inconsiderate customers out there.

Anyways, an easily deserved 5 stars for our experience. In addition, everyone wore their masks/facial coverings when necessary, and once we were on our ride it became evident it is the PERFECT socially-distant activity to do during these crazy pandemic times. As a young person I rode a lot and loved it and my family knew horses and riding were special to me, so I wanted to share this experience with them. I knew this would be my "last ride" and another check off my bucket list.

The ride was bittersweet, to see my 10 family members mounted up, safely with helmets and coaching from staff, faces beaming in anticipation, brought me so much joy. I was also in a lot if pain and the ride was challenging for me because if this.

The crew boss was amazing and patient as we all got checked in, 3 of our youngest had never been on a horse and were kindly assisted by our trail guides, who looked out for us the whole trip, were friendly and fun, and even took group photos with our cameras.

For me getting off my horse, Cookie (great horse) was going to be difficult. My legs were giving out and I really was hurting. The staff were so kind and encouraging, and between them and my son-in-law I was able to dismount safely and get on the portable steps provided to get down. I cannot thank them enough for making my last ride into the sunset with my kids and grandkids possible. Despite the challenge this closed a chapter of my life with those I love most.

Back for a third time!

Decided last minute on a trail ride to close out a beautiful weekend. Cassie was our guide and she was an absolute pleasure to ride with. Upon arrival, she took the time to go over the ground rules and expectations of the ride and made sure my niece was comfortable and felt confident with the horse that was chosen for her (We love you, Big Red!) The horses that we have been paired with each time we’ve visited Bandon Stables have always felt like the perfect fit for each of us. This was the second time I was paired with Cheyenne and she was just as sweet and responsive as the last time I rode her. Although it was a bit windy by the time our 2pm ride was coming to an end, the horses didn’t seem to mind one bit. Cassie gave great feedback throughout the ride which really gave my niece a wonderful confidence boost and left us both feeling great about our choice to spend our day with Bandon Stables.
