My bad experience has only to do with their customer service and billing practices, not the storage facility itself, which is fine. Angie was the person on site that could not possibly have been less friendly or accommodating.
I have been a customer of this facility in Cornelius for several years, always paying a year in advance. My renewal came due last Thursday (08/18) and I was out of town. When I returned on Monday night, I had a message about it, so I went in Tuesday to pay - twice. Both times, the office was locked (during business hours), with a clock on the door saying the person would return at a designated time. The first time would have been a 45 minute wait, so I left and returned at 4:25. There was another sign on the door saying the person would return at 4:30. I waited until 4:40, then left for a 5:00 appointment.
I returned on Wednesday only to find there would be a $37.50 late charge because I didn't pay by the day before. When I explained that I had tried to pay TWICE and nobody was there, I was told two things: I should have called and said I would come in the next day to pay. Seriously? I thought I did something better and actually came in person to pay I was then told that the person actually DID return when they said they would, which was 4:45, and the only reason I was missed her was because the clock they use on the door has a bad minute hand indicator that slips down to the bottom, which was why it showed 4:30 as the return time. Angie said she checked the camera footage and it did indeed showed me leaving after my 15 minute wait. So the faulty indicator was my problem?
I pointed out that no, I didn't call, but as she just admitted through the camera footage, I obviously made the attempt and shouldn't that suffice? She said "no" and that she would not waive the late fee.
So they got their blood money this time, along with $3,000 for the year, but I will certainly look for a new storage location for next year. If it was possible to move all my storage anytime soon, I would do it, but it's going to take a monumental effort, so that will have to wait.

On 11/10/17, we went to retrieve items from storage which included clothes, office and desk supplies, etc. The entire cube space was covered with stinkbugs and they were on the floor, all over his bags, in the Velcro and handles of the bags, etc. There were hundreds of them. Absolutely disgusting. We had to try and pick them all off and put the items and bags in my car. So now they are in my car and I have found some in my garage upon returning home to Florida.
The manager was not extremely helpful as she said there was nothing she could do and said that other people didn’t have stinkbugs in their storage units. Personally, I don’t care what others have or have not. I paid to keep my items and clothes safe and clean. I understand having a few pests but hundreds of stink bugs is completely unacceptable. We are still finding stinkbugs in our house and car and it’s December.
We had previously used a competitor for the past five years while in college nearby and didn’t have a problem at that place ever. Not one bug. Not one time. Unfortunately, they had no available space left and we had to use Cube Smart. It was a horrible experience. I have photos as well.

While doing my research online for a storage unit I would only be needing for one month until the closing on my house, a Cube Smart employee called me directly and explained their quick, easy contactless process. They were running a “first month free” special that even though I would only be needing the unit for a single month, she explained I still qualified for (with the exception of tax, required insurance and a small administrative fee.) I was pleasantly surprised by how straightforward the process was, how clean the drive-up unit was upon arrival and how well lit their security camera monitored grounds are. While they strive to make their operations contact free, I would have to make a trip into the office after less than 48hrs there to get assistance cutting a personal lock for which the key had been lost (moving is stressful!) where I was assisted by an extremely nice employee who made light of the situation and quickly got me back into my unit.
