From the early days as a skating rink to a modern day bingo hall.
Back in the day, this place used to be the hip place to go for roller skating. Now all those people are older and come here to play bingo. I’m not entirely sure that is true, but let’s just pretend it is.
Having lived in this area for a long time, I’ve drove by this place a million times but never had an inkling to visit until I started this travel list. Having only ever played bingo casually, walking in here was a new experience. One we were ill-prepared for. How? People take bingo serious.
Us being young rapscallions, we were learning the ropes as the numbers were being called out. We were having fun while not knowing exactly what we were doing. Evidently, being too loud gets the whole crowd to glare at you. We were asked to quiet it down as people were getting bothered by us having fun. It took them a few times to shush us for us to finally calm down. Once we settled down, the glares went away… for the most part.
The bingo hall employees were friendly and helpful in getting us set up and explaining the rules of each card style we got. We all bought blotters and I still have mine. It’s probably dried up at this point.
Near the end of the games, someone claimed BINGO! and won some money. They give everyone time to respond to a bingo before they award the prize. My friend was also new to this and didn’t know the rules fully and missed out on winning over $200 because of it. You could see the loss and disappointment in his face. It was an expensive lesson he and we all learned.
I think in total I spent maybe $20 to play bingo. There were multiple styles to play. I don’t recall which versions I played but I do remember all of us were furiously trying to keep up as they called out numbers. The tablet things we got were nice to use at it kept track for us.
I’ve been wanting to try bingo again, whether it be this location or the bingo hall in Peoria. Hopefully I can convince my friend to go and he can make up for...
Read moreReally disappointed...ill start with the 1 bad thing I totally did not like because the rest is good actually. When playing bingo there are some playing on paper with their dobbler competing against the people on computers. The people on computers are playing 115+ bingo games not hitting buttons or call nothing while the paper bingo players are dotting away on how many ever games they can keep up with 1-5. So basically it's a rip off because computer wins bingo every time. I ove bingo and games. And my girlfriend and I decided to do date night at tazewell bingo. So excited just to be so disappointed we felt ripped off. Now The employees were very nice and helped up get set up and explained our games. The food expecially fried mushrooms were so good. And the other games that were played the same for everyone were fun. So it wasn't the worst but I don't know if I'll go again and if I do it will only to play a couple games besides bingo. Which is the reason we...
Read moreSo disgusted with this place! DONT GIVE THIS JERK YOUR MONEY! The caller they had for the night was so unprofessional & a poor excuse of a man. Every other word out of his mouth was rude or explicit. When the manager tried to address him about the issues customers & other employees were having with him he exploded at her. He verbally assaulted her in front of the entire building & violently made his way out the door. When we called to complain we were told the manager was the one fired because "he's a nice guy & they could of learned a thing or two from him". Absolutely disgusted by the owner & his complete disregard & lack of respect of his employees. Or maybe just the female employees...if he views that pig in clothing as a "nice guy" then it speaks volumes as to what his character is truly like. I wouldn't recommend this hole in the...
