Unfortunately, our online ordering experience did not turn out so good. My credit card was charged on 08/01/16 when the order wasn't due to ship until 09/02/16. We paid over $120 in shipping charges and were called the morning the order was due to ship and told because we ordered so much, it would have to go into a second box. At the time of the phone call the supervisor couldn't tell me how much more the shipping would be. I asked why wasn't this figured at the time of placing the order and his response was "you ordered online". Um well, yes I ordered online...you have an online site! Anyway, I said well it looks like you have two options, either eat the extra shipping charge or cancel the order. He said he'd speak to one of the owners and call me back. I never received a call back from anyone but I did receive an email from one of the owners. Basically, I was referred to a link on their site that stated if more than a bushel of crabs were order, there may be additional shipping charges. OK, so the owner offers to split the difference of the cost stating my part will be $50.98 more. This means there is an additional $101 that wasn't figured in when originally placing the order. By this time I was furious because not only did they not have the courtesy to call back like I was told, $101 more is certainly an error on their part when it should have shown in the beginning. I tried calling to speak with the owner but was told he was too busy to come to the phone! The owner then did offer (via email again) to throw in additional crabs if I would reconsider canceling the order. OK, so now...after a phone call and a couple of emails, you're going to try and placate me with an additional $51 charge BUT you'll throw in extra crabs...Gee, why didn't they suggest that in the first phone call or even in the first email. Nope, sorry...but you'd already ruined the business relationship by trying to gouge me with extra shipping and not calling back when you said you would. For this they get one star (because I can't leave a review with no stars) and because we didn't even get a chance to find out if their product was good or not. As of today, there is no refund to my account, but in all fairness this took place on Friday morning and this is now only Sunday morning. (Edited: 09/06/16: Refund posted to my card today.) I didn't think businesses were supposed to charge your credit card until the product was...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAfter many years of being a customer with no complaints whatsoever (4 orders in the last 12 months), I had a batch of crabs in which several crabs (8 ā 10 was my estimate) were inedible given the smellā¦stench really. I wrote a note to let them know of this and was told that I could have a dozen free crabs on my next order to make up for the inconvenience. As I do not want any more crabs this year and I am not sure that I want to order again from the place that sent me some really bad crabs, I let them know I would prefer a partial refund. Apparently the matter was referred up the line as the COO wrote me a note asking for details on my issue ā which were clearly stated in the email messages that were part of his note to me (right below his note actually). Pointing this fact out was not well-received as I suspect the matter was deemed to be too small to warrant looking into prior to contacting me but still not the client service that I hoped to receive. It was also pointed out to me that I was not making things easy for them. After a few more messages back and forth, I was told that there were a ½ dozen ābufferā crabs in my original order (standard practice I am told) and that the bad crabs I received would be netted, so to speak, against the bonus crabs in my order. I never counted the total number of crabs in the box and the website says āApprox. 6 Dozenā for the order I placed so it is curious to me that we now have an precise data on exactly how many extra crabs I received. In any event, so now I am somehow down to only 2-4 crabs that were actually paid for that are worthy of a refund. On an order of almost $350 (includes shipping), I am to receive a $15.99 refund [equal to 3.6 crabs]. There are a few other options for ordering blue crabs online and I will be checking them out...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy friends and I had an awesome time at the Crab and Cruise Saturday. The purchase process was smooth and before the trip, we received so much helpful/informative information that answered so many questions. We traveled from NC on Saturday and the hotel was a in a prime location, approximately 20 minutes from the cruise location. We arrived at the location and were promptly seated together. We loved that we had name plates to make sure we were seated together.
We were all impressed with the process of how we were served. We received several appetizer sized items, ribs, wings, corn on the cob (Oh MY the corn!!!) before the crabs were served. The crabs came hot and perfectly seasoned and did not stop until we wanted them to. We ate and enjoyed to our hearts content. Our meal was followed with a delicious piece of cake.
We left the location and moved about 4 blocks down to the boat. The boat was a good size and most people on the boat brought their own coolers. The entertainer on the lower level was very good singing 60's Motown, and the DJ on the upper level was awesome. He played great music and it looked like every enjoyed themselves while we sailed to Tangier Island. which is where the crabbers live. He also gave good information on the crabbers and how they live and some of them were out with a welcoming greeting. This part of the rid was perfectly scheduled so we could enjoy an absolutely beautiful sunset. Now on the way back, the music was awesome and there was a lot more dancing. That part of the ride could have lasted a little longer.
I highly recommend this event and look forward to doing this again before the season is over.
