Crystal River State Park Adventures — Local services in Crystal River

During a very bad storm, I attempted to get my family along with an infant and toddler into shelter to avoid being struck by lightning. While attempting to dock an employee came to the dock and told us we were not allowed to park on the docks. We explained to him the situation and he told us the rental that was expected any second had priority. At that moment lightning struck nearly 100 yards from us. We explained we would leave if the boats came. The women and children took cover in the bathrooms while the rest of us took cover on the boat. A second family appeared at the same time to take cover as well and were greeted by the same employee who did not want them to take cover on either. Within 5 minutes the employee approached us again with his face covered telling us the storm has passed and we need to vacate the docks. Ironically seconds later another bolt of lightning struck very close again. Not sure if the employee was having a bad day or if he just lacks the capacity to have single ounce of decency to allow children to take cover from bolts of lightning cracking over their heads. Will absolutely be calling the highest level of management I can reach. Never thought I would ever have to see the level of fear in my children's eyes and essentially be told their lives were not valuable enough to...

The sunset voyage was magical. Captain Levi was great - highly competent, personable & took great care to provide a scenic and informative tour while keeping us safe from any wakes created by other boats coming in and out of the channel. Crystal River is mighty and beautiful. From our point of departure we were able to enter the bay that leads to the gulf while staying near to the small outlying islands. Binoculars were provided for guests and we saw a variety of birds including a flamingo which flew overhead! (Flamingos have returned to Florida since the recent storms). My experience with this company was fantastic. I had several questions before booking and the people on the phone were polite and helpful. After I booked, finding the location was easy. An employee named Noah helped us when we arrived, gave us good instructions for operating the boat and where to go, and was polite and helpful when we got back. We were very appreciative.
