My son has been seeing Maggie for just about 8 months now. Maggie is very efficient as far as referrals go, etc. and I do believe she cares deeply for her patients. However, I have had some interactions that I feel were unprofessional (on her end) and insensitive. My son had COVID in August (my son is 3, Autistic and nonverbal with a CHD). She pushed for me to get the COVID vaccine and when I expressed that, that was something we were NOT interested in, she continued to push. I have my reasons for deciding against the vaccine and at the end of the day, I am his mother and I feel pushing a vaccine that isnât required (and as controversial as this one is) is unethical. Telling me after I declined said vaccine that âbabies die all the time from thisâ is insensitive (considering Maggie is well aware of my sonâs medical history). We have decided to find a new pediatrician after our experience today at my sonâs 3 year old checkup. We came in and were taken back by an MA named Marissa. Iâm unsure as to why this practice doesnât have a chart of some sort that gives their staff a list of preexisting conditions or even basic information about the patients that they are seeing, but they donât (surprising considering this a practice that seems to pride themselves in being exceptionally accommodating to children with special needs). Marissa took us back to the scale and I stated that my son is autistic and nonverbal and that he will not stand on the scale, but that we had, had a cardiologist visit not even a week ago and gave her his Ht & WT from that appointment (that again, was not even a week ago). She seemed dismayed by that for whatever reason, but didnât seem to be too much of an issue. We get back to the room and sheâs asking questions and Iâm answering all of them accordingly when she randomly states that âIâm making it hard for her to do her jobâ and that she was âuncomfortableâ. I told her that Iâm not sure what sheâs talking about and that Iâm answering all of her questions. She proceeded to storm out of the room. My husband (whom is as easygoing as they come) said that he was just as confused as I was and that he was so enraged by her behavior that he never wanted to bring our son back to Maggieâs practice again after this experience. We could only assume that she was implying that our sonâs diagnosis and the challenges that it brings (not getting on the scale, etc.) was what was making it âdifficult to do her jobâ. Again, odd behavior from an employee of a practice that prides themselves in accommodating their patients with special needs. We have never had an experience like this with any of her other MAâs and or scheduling staff. I explained to the NP that was there today what had happened and she was very apologetic, which was greatly appreciated by both my husband & I. Still feel like this situation needs to be addressed with Marissa, especially if sheâs planning to continue working in pediatric offices. Itâs clearly not...
Read moreWe have been seeing Maggie for 14 years now and have never regretted it! Maggie and her staff have always gotten on your and your child's level in regards to everything. We started with my oldest when he was just 6 months old and has asthma, he is now a teen and has always felt comfortable with Maggie during visits, always voices his concerns with her and she listens. 4 years ago we started seeing Maggie with my youngest who has a rare disease, Jeune Syndrome, trach, vent, g tube, immune compromised and has multiple other diagnoses. Maggie and her staff have been phenomenal with my youngest as well as oldest and are ALWAYS on point and go beyond when caring for both especially my youngest with his many "issues" and "accessories". Any issues I have with meds, questions, support, anything at all Maggie and her staff are on it! Even those times that I need medical advice or opinions Maggie always gives me the best medical opinions not only for my youngest but for my oldest as well. I can't imagine sending my kids to any other pediatrician office and Maggie works hand in hand with the rest of my youngest sons team in Atlanta on any issues they need to combine with. They have always had clean rooms each time we have gone in over the years, toys, books, coloring pages in the rooms as well as the train, fish tank, books and tvs in the waiting rooms. Thank you Maggie and staff!! We...
Read moreMy 5 day old newborn baby went in for her first check up today. First of all, we had to wait for a very long time before she was seen. The entire visit lasted an hour and 45 minutes. When we finally got back to the room, it was really nasty. The bed had stuff all over the side of it. The nurse told me to undress my baby. We walked out of the room to where the scale was. The paper that they use to covered the scale was unrolling from the floor. Not in a sanitary pocket like other Doctor Offices. She told me to go back into the room. The nurse took her heart beat but she didn't wash her hands OR put gloves on before touching my baby. She then told me to leave the baby undressed and that the doctor would be in in a minute. It took her over 20 minutes to come in. My baby was undressed the whole time in a cold office. The nurse and the doctor talked about another patients medical problems in my room with us which should be private. I was really unsatisfied with the overall visit. There was a desk in the hallway from the waiting room to the rooms that was very cluttered and unprofessional looking. I hope my file was'nt on that desk. By the end of the visit I was furious and I am NEVER taking my baby back there. I will never recommend anybody else...
