This is an absolute wonderful experience to get across to dauphin Island from fort Morgan in Alabama. Once you reach dauphin Island you must visit the Sea Lab and go through all of their exhibits. Also be absolutely sure to visit the Fort Gains located next to the Sea Lab.

It is full of so much history it is a great time just be careful where you walk and where you step. This fort is needing some restoration work and only receives money from the tickets sold at the door and the merchandise sold in the gift shop.

I am trying to reach out to see if there is a way to help support them or get a group of volunteers to go in and help do some related restoration work Fort Gains. It is a very important part of our history that must be preserved in every way possible. Due to some of the past hurricanes it has been left in side shape. As in some of the underground bonkers are actually full of sand, making them next to impassable. A group of volunteers could do a lot of good work here. The group needs to include woodworkers as well as metal workers and welders and painters and even lawn maintenance would be a huge huge asset.

Let's see what we can do to bring national attention...

First time on the fairy. Sailed from Fort Morgan to Dauphin Island on 8-17-2025. When I got to the ticket booth approximately 16:48 on the Dauphin island side, I drove up to the ticket booth to pay. Lana, who was attending the booth, just stared at her phone and didn’t acknowledge us at all. She looked up and then right back down at her phone as I was holding my receipt from Fort Morgan and my credit card in my hand to pay the returning fee. So I assumed that she didn’t need my payment and I was free to board. When I drove through, she ran out the back door like a bat out of hell… she jumped in her Camry and drove down to my car and said “you need to come back and pay me”. I said “well ma’am, I tried. You sat on your phone while I was at the window for a while”… she looked shocked and said “well I was talking to a co worker, you’re coming back to pay me”. She was extremely rude when I got back, slammed my card around and proceeded to say “don’t snatch anything out of my hand, you won’t be getting on that boat”. Very dramatic for someone who simply can’t run the ticket booth. Otherwise, it was a great ride. Just get a new ticket person and it will be a 5...

From Missouri and here on vacation. The mobile bay ferry is so cool. Nice easy smooth ride. Didn't make me feel nervous at all. All you got to do is pay at beginning of line and then get in line to get on boat. Our drive would have been 2 hours but thanks to the Mobile Bay ferry we only spent one hour getting back to gulf shores. It was only $27 for two passengers and one vehicle. They have bathrooms at the Mobile Bay ferry site and I recommend going to bathroom before getting on boat. They say you can get out of vehicle once you get on boat and use restrooms on boat but we wasn't able to open car door up due to another vehicle beside us. It's tight quarters on the boat. I also recommend having water or something to drink in vehicle because the trip will take about 40 mins. Make sure your On Time. The mobile bay ferry leaves Exactly on time. You can't be late to this. You might also want to have some Dramamine on hand because it might make you sea sick if your not used to being on boats. I also recommend calling the Mobile Bay ferry because that will give you the most updated departure times. I definitely recommend taking the mobile bay ferry...

The Dauphin Island ferry is a fun and quick way to get from Fort Morgan to the island. After a quick meal at Tacky Jack's, we boarded the ferry in caravan (2 vehicles) to visit the island before driving back to Memphis. The personnel on the ferry were friendly and businesslike. The ticket taker at Fort Morgan was nice too. He gave clear instructions and a smile. I thought it odd that I could not pay cash and had to tap my card from a 3-foot board he stuck out, but I expect with so many people traveling through that station, they had to be concerned with germs, especially in light of Covid. Once on the ferry, the gentle breezes and catwalks kept my grandkids occupied. There are telescopes on the observation deck that give you about 3 minutes of 150x magnification. We were able to see a lighthouse and closeups of some of the oil rigs in the bay. Even our dog Charlie had a great time. I was a bit disappointed that there is no bathroom facility on the ferry, as we had to hold it across the 30-minute voyage. When we asked one of the staff about it, they pointed to the side of the ship, and said there were plenty of places to go. Erm, no.
