ATTENTION: أنتبح بيونصبو ألالناس. Be aware they fool people.
It is not about the money, but the principle.
I've been coming to this papaya since they opened. It's not the best store, but it was decent. I am Arab, speak the tongue fluently, and understand all dialects. The men in the meat department are always a hassle. One pretends like he can't understand me, or English, but when a dolled up women comes in he automatically is hit with a divine spirit that allows him to comprehend English clearly. Today I asked for a leg of lamb. I asked the price which was 5.49 a pound. No big deal. I asked can you de-bone the leg, and was told of course. He weighed it while the bone was attached, and then removed the bone. After the removal, which took under 5 minutes, he didn't re weigh it or adjust the price. The lamb leg went from 8 pounds to 5 pounds, and yet I was being charged for the amount of 8 pounds. I brought it to the attention of the cashier, she confirmed it was overcharged, and asked a manager or owner to adjust the price. He told me that I had to go to the back and speak with them. I told him in Arabic For what reason? You are the owner, they are the workers, you want to charge me for a bone that I didn't want, then you are going to re sell the bone too someone else for طبيخ (cooking), make double the money off me and the next person. He didn't like what I had to say and took me to the back to speak to the butcher. The butcher then tells me that since he removed the bone I have to charge you, so now the price went from $46 to $48, and that is without the bone. So I took the bones/leg meat at $46. I don't mind paying a surcharge for de-bone, but don't try to defraud me and charge me an extra $15-16 for 3 pounds of weight that I haven't received. It should have been $5.49 × 5.75lbs + a de-boning surcharge (Though they are going to re-sell the bones). Not $5.49 × 8.43lbs and keep the bones to re-sell. It is false advertisement, and it is the duty of the worker to bring it to the customers attention of the price difference/change. The butcher was rude, and egotistical. I told him they are robbing people, that the people aren't stupid, and he didn't like that I said that. I worked بالمَلحمَه (meat market) and restaurants; I know their tricks and how they fool people. He went on to say go somewhere else. You don't tell a loyal paying customer to go somewhere else. That's how you lose business and word spreads you are a نسَاب (One who fools/tricks/plays people). I know next time to go to someone else. Or better yet to the wholesaler who sells the meat cheaper, and the ones who distribute to them. They have lost a loyal customer, but not just me, they have lost my whole family's business. I also will make sure others know, I'll be filing a complaint with the department of State, and with LARA. Fraudulence will not...
Read moreI swear, this is what I get for going back... every couple of months, I hope for change and go back because the location is convenient. I seriously regret it soon after. One time.. it's the rude, lazy, drama talking cashiers... another time, it's the exaggerated prices, another time, it's the food that molds the next day (fruits n veggies) or have already molded on the stand. Another time, it's the expired chocolate they sell at a discount... not knowing it's expired until you get home. This time... this time, it was the meat. I purchased 1.6 lbs of meat... to throw away 1.4 lbs of it because it is not edible and will not cut under a chefs knife! Why do I keep going back? This place blows my mind. I keep giving this establishment chances... but at this point, I truly am done. Oh... btw... your ceiling leaks on top of the rice and spices in front of the butcher fridges. The picture and video don't show edible fat, but in fact, the layer you have to tear off the meat. Why are you selling this? And at 8 dollars a pound?? I got .2 lbs of meat from this after stripping it carefully for more than half an hour to get what I could from it....
Read moreI like the market..it reminds me of Greenland Market.. My only gripe is you have to really watch the cashier I picked up some fenugreek seeds and it had a $2.99 reg tag price on it ..when I got home to put up my groceries I noticed the price tag was removed and my receipts showed they charged me $3.49.. so I drove backup to the store cause I was gonna check the shelves to find the $2.99 bottle ...Do you know they relabled all those bottles @$3.49 or either took down the ones that had $2.99 ..so just be careful and watch the cashier if you see a sale price to make sure that they don't Do the okidoke and switch out the prices and charge you more.. That is a little shady to say the least.. I was really excited about the $2.99 price... I'm still happy I found the seeds, and I guess I'm not too upset, even though they did get and extra $0.50 from me.. I'll still shop there, but I'm watch the cashier...
