I strongly advise you to avoid this dealership. Long story short, they sold me a vehicle with a blown engine, misrepresented it having a factory warranty, and their errors cost me thousands of dollars.
Purchased a 2015 Nissan Pathfinder SV here with 26k miles on a Saturday. When I arrived, the salesman Rich Hayes insisted I take my trade in to the shop, and he’d be happy to pull the Nissan around for me. I did as he suggested. We close on the deal, with Tanner Imoehl finishing the financing and assuring me that the car still had a factory powertrain warranty 50k miles, and I take the car home.
The first trip after arriving home from the dealership, the car fills my driveway with white smoke after startup. The dealership was now closed, so I wait to call until Monday morning. Jason Woods assures me that whatever the problem is, the best thing to do would be to get it to the nearest Nissan dealership to have it checked out. As it turns out, this was a lease vehicle that had a blown engine, and Nissan had rescinded (cancelled) the warranty. This smoke only happened upon cold starts, which I suspect is why Hayes insisted I wait in the office for the vehicle.
Woods’ remedy was to procure a replacement Pathfinder for me. The replacement was an S (one trim level down) with 29k miles that they charged me an additional $1000 for. The replacement booked for $2000 less. Woods tried to inform me that the difference in price was due to the original Pathfinder being a year older than the replacement (they were the same year) and that the market had changed since the original purchase (it was 2 weeks later).
The dealership refused to honor their claim about the factory warranty, return my original payment, or my trade in. I would have been without a vehicle if I had refused their proposed remedy. Soon after this went down, COVID hit, and courts were shut down. I have not yet pursued litigation.
UPDATE: I was able to connect with a Decorah Chrysler/Chevrolet representative today. He expressed that they wish they hadn't received this review, and that their staff was surprised to hear that I was unsatisfied with their...
Read moreMy first experience with Decorah Chevrolet was in November of 2016. Zach was absolutely fantastic with helping me find a car in my price range with all of the features that I wanted. Travis was very thorough with the financial portion of purchasing the car and made sure I walked away with a real understanding of what all the numbers meant! I was very pleased! Unfortunately, last week that vehicle was totaled in an accident. I called and spoke to the guys there at the dealership and they helped me with the GAP insurance claim. Joel took care of filing the claim to the GAP insurance for me. I didn't have to do a thing! Everything went so smoothly and was such a relief to me! The team there even found me a car similar to the one I'd had before! Once again, the financial portion of getting the new vehicle was explained to me very thoroughly, as well as the GAP insurance claim. I'm so very impressed with the way they took care of everything and showed genuine care for me and for my family. My experience with Decorah Chevrolet was just absolutely perfect! I'd also recommend spending the little bit of extra money to get GAP insurance!!! I didn't anticipate getting into an accident, but I'm so glad I had GAP insurance when I did. It is literally saving me...
Read moreIt has been the worse experience ever, bought daughter a 2014 Jeep, we’ve signed the needed papers twice already, second time was because they had her name reversed, brought jeep back two days later due to odometer flashing and also had a wheel bearing out. Come to find out this vehicle had never gone through inspection they claim it accidently was changed from red list to green list meaning it had been inspected.. taking vehicle back in as odometer still flashes, being told now there is a factory recall for emissions and dashboard takes 5-10 minutes to come on to be able to access controls and also need to resign papers since my daughters signature looks different on her license then the forms we signed and credit union needs a closer match.. keep in mind it’s the Holidays and we live an hour away and this will be our third trip to the business and of course four to pick up vehicle once it is worked on again next week!!!! Not pleased at all!!! Keep asking myself.. what next?! She’s a college student and needed a reliable vehicle.. this is not it...
