I Have spent thousands of dollars buying items with Berners Auction House through Invaulable.com for the past four to five years I have had very little issues other than some damaged items I never complained about because the postal service from Florida to Oregon can be a little rough on a package. However today is a day I will think seriously if I will ever spend another dollar with them. I bid like everyone else for a Week or two before the live auction I was bidding on sterling silver coins I had bid on around 10 coins they all had been bid 5 dollars on by another bidder I raised the bid to 10 on each of them a week prior to the sell at that point it shows that my bid is the highest and that no one has out bid me and this stays the same for the entire next week up to the live sell today I woke up about 20 minutes late and I check to see what they had brought it doesn’t show in my purchase column I had won so I go to my past bids to see what they brought and it shows they brought 10 dollars each and I was the high bidder but that the lot was passed. I called Berners right away the First Lady doesn’t want to help she says she has a phone bid to take care of could she put me on hold I didn’t matter that all my bids I was being cheated out of then another lady comes on the phone and I tell her she looks up one of my lots and then says mr mills we had a bunch of last minute absentee bids on those coins I said that shouldn’t matter when there is already a bid just because you recieve a bid there it doesn’t replace a bid that you have contracted with a company online she then starts to ramble that she doesn’t know I said never mind if you have a chance to cheat a customer to get another one you will this time you did it to a long time customer who has purchased a lot and spent a lot with you and had pictures of this as evidence to back all this up. I will Post it wherever I can this is absurd. Invaluable needs to kick you off there site and I am going to show them why. I no longer want to be a customer of yours and Will not buy another item if nothing else I can do that and let people know your not trust worthy and don’t operate in a honest and lack integrity if it wasn’t for me checking my past bids I wouldn’t have known and this has propably happened to from you I’m the past as well. So this is my review and my cancellation of bidding with your auction anyone who reads this beware of what you get into...
Read moreOne of my favorite places to go! Even if you don't buy anything, it's a great night out. We moved to ormond a few years back, after my husband retired from contracting work. We'd travelled for several years, living in hotels or furnished homes. When we settled in ormond we didnt own anything...not even a trash can! Berners was a blessing. We furnished our entire house, (including kitchen equipment, rugs, appliances) at Berners. We estimated that we paid around 10% of retail cost....not bad! Denise (the owner) and her staff have always been professional, helpful, hardworking and polite. Even after being a 'regular' at berners for several years I'm still amazed at what they do. In just a few hours, 1000's of items are brought in, auctioned, and rolled out. A constant flow of stuff. They're tagged, identifying the new owner. Bills are generated. Then they're all positioned for pickup. Most leave on auction night, or you can leave your items there, pickup by saturday. Or they'll deliver. And it goes like clockwork. They know the exact location of every item. How in the heck do they do that? I have enough trouble hanging on to my car keys. Anyway, if you have the opportunity I'd highly recommend a visit! I doubt you'll be...
Read moreThis was one of the strangest retail experiences I’ve ever had. I chose around 6 items from the back area where you are able to buy things non-auction, & almost nothing is priced. They had a great selection, & I probably would have become a regular. But, after spending ~an hour collecting things to buy, I asked for a price, was quoted essentially retail “new” prices for mostly used items, as a lot. I was very surprised by the high price, but figured I would ask how much just the 2 items I wanted most would be. Instead of giving me a price, the cashier told me she didn’t want to “nickel & dime”, & basically refused to sell me ANYTHING if I didn’t buy it all, which was EXTREMELY odd. I suppose if I had come up initially with just 1 item I could have bought something? Not sure... Not wanting to pay the price I felt was too high, I was then instructed, without any invitation to negotiation, to just put everything back where I found it, & left without buying anything. It was truly too bad, because they have great stuff. Not a great way to run a business, but to each...
