David Barry Jewelers — Local services in Delray Beach

I was on Feb. 28, 15, at 11.10 AM at David Barry Jewelers in Boynton Beach, FL 33437 at 12040 Jog Rd #10, to buy a Watch Battery. When they tried to charge my Credit Card, they embarrassed me in front of many customers, saying that my Credit Card was declined (Twice). When I wanted to pay in cash, and made the comment that it could be not possible that my Credit would be declined, the owner grabbed the Battery and said to get out his store and made loud comments that people should not come to pay with insufficient Credit Cards. When I came home, after buying the needed Watch Battery at CVS using the SAME Credit Card, I found that David Barry Jewelers had charged my Credit Card but they never gave me the Battery. When I went back to David Barry Jewelers and showed a receipt from my Credit Card Bank that clearly showed David Barry charged me, he said that my receipt is not accepted by him and suggested that I would defraud him of ($5.30) because his store receipt shows that the credit card was supposedly declined. Mr. David Barry was very unprofessional and not service oriented at all. I cannot recommend this store for anything. The shop is not customer oriented and there is no excuse for a shop owner to be rude to anyone coming into their store no matter what the amount of their purchase. I couldn't be more pleased with the diamond earrings David Barry Jewelers designed for my girlfriend. I could have easily spent a ton more somewhere else for similar quality. The "family style" service and a personal touch that only a private jeweler can provide is worth the 200 miles I drove to not only make this purchase, but also the process leading up to the purchase. The questions they asked me, the care they took when explaining my options, and the genuine care the Franks (owners) had when working with me were top notch.

This place doesn't pretend to be a super fancy chain like "Tiffany's" or somewhere in the mall, but they have a great selection and one of the owners even designs some of the jewelry. After being frustrated with the selection for the price elsewhere, I am so glad I found David Barry. This place is a diamond in the South Florida area and I will continue to make jewelry purchases there unless they get sold to a big...

A friend of mine went into David Barry Jewelers today to buy a battery for his watch. It was only a $5 purchase. He presented his debit card and the clerk said it was declined. Then my friend tried to give Mr. Barry cash for the purchase. He told my friend to get out of his store and grabbed the battery. When my friend returned home, he found that his debit card had been charged the $5 + tax for the battery. When he returned to the Jewelers, Mr. Barry would not acknowledge that my friend had paid for the battery that was charged to him OR that he never received the merchandise. In the meantime, the PayPal receipt shows that the battery was charged by David Barry Jewelers. I would never recommend this store to anyone. Mr. Barry's rudeness and unprofessional behavior has no place in a retail...
