UPDATE: (2 years after my original review.) I've been back here several times lately. And have gotten more and more disappointed with this business. I'm not sure if the lady behind the counter is the owner or not, but she offers litter more than a hello. She sits behind the counter on the computer. (The last time I was in, this last Wednesday, I didn't even get a thank you for coming in or a goodbye.)
Items have been there for years with limited or any price reduction to move them out. The longer an item sits in your store the less valuation it has. Product doesn't make money until it moves. This is basic retail.
The disorder is astounding. From what I understand, and I may be wrong, this is owned and operated by the product owners, instead of your typical antique mall which rents out booths. Therefore it should be organized. So many things have "do not touch" signs on them or locked in cases. Buyers need to be able to touch things to decide if they want to buy things. Customers will break things, that is the cost of doing business.
Things should be organized for ease of shopping, least of all for ADA compliance, which this place certainly does not meet any of that.
And more over the smell. It didn't smell like antiques, as that's very specific. It smelled like death. Like rotting animal.
I'm just saddened. But more importantly, not going back. Perhaps I'm the only one who feels this way, but I've been in executive retail (corporate high level) for a very long time, and this place just irritates me, as the money they could be making is literally walking out the door.
(Below is my original review) While the prices are a little higher than normally expected, the quality and selection are pretty darn impressive. We went there yesterday after having a nice day out. Got a chance to speak with the gentleman working, missed his name but had a beard and was very relaxed. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. We will...
Read moreI recently purchased an item from the shop, actually7 days ago. The item was flawed for the use I purchased it for. The management was well aware of my intended use. I phoned and spoke to an employee, who said he would consult with the owner to see if we could arrange an exchange and that I would be willing to pay any difference. Well, when I went back to the store, any exchange was denied and i was accused of altering or exchanging the item. Young man, be aware of the fact that not all people are dishonest. . .I value truth and integrity and my word means everything to me. I can only assume YOU folks were the dishonest ones, selling me an item you knew to be unusable for my needs. Apparently you do not need local customers and rely on the travelers along the highway for your clientele. ...
Read moreArrived a little before 2pm on a Sunday. Posted hours are until 4pm. After confirming with staff that they were indeed open until 4, we were informed that they were just going to close due to the "game". We assumed they meant the Packers. We attempted to begin browsing, but ended up leaving after only 10 minutes. In this 10 minutes, staff received 2 phone calls apparently inquiring where they were as the response was "yes we are still here". We left after this as it was very evident that staff wanted to close up shop.
We are buyers not just browsers. We would typically spend a minimum of an hour in an establishment of this size and usually spend $250-$2500.
Hope the game was worth driving customers out...
