I made an appointment for a consultation for locs. Chonte was knowledgeable and left me feeling excited about the journey. We made the appointment for the install, and before I left the salon, I sent her a deposit via CashApp.
A few days later, I won tickets to a WNBA game in Vegas and had to reschedule my appointment. I first tried emailing but got no response. And after a couple of days, I was concerned because I know rescheduling can be tough on all involved. I tried rescheduling online based on the avilailability her site said she had, but since I didn't make the original appointment online, it felt more appropriate to talk to her directly.
So I popped in to the salon. She was with a customer, so I just let her know I needed to reschedule. Two things stood out, though her site said she was available at some other times, she stated she was not. And she also stated that I couldn't make an install appointment on her site anyway... that was strange, cuz isn't that what you do? Install locs? By appointment?
Anyway, we finally got an alternate date on her books. The day before the appointment, she emails me to say that her site allowed for her to be double booked and she'd have reschedule my appointment. I immediately replied saying no worries, it happens let me know what works for you. (I could've been like, why I gotta reschedule? Why not make the OTHER person reschedule? But whatever) I got no response. So, I texted her. No response.
The next day, I texted her again. An hour later she responds that the next Tuesday any time before 2pm is available. I check my meeting schedule for work and immediately reply with how about 10:30am? She replies, "On Tuesday?" In my head in thinking, "Damn, YES! YOU SAID TUESDAY BEFORE 2?!!" But I simply replied, "Yes. 10:30am, Tuesday, October 1?" That was on a Friday. She did not reply to confirm.
Saturday, no reply to confirm. Sunday, no reply to confirm. Monday, no reply to confirm.
So Monday at 10pm, texted her that since I didn't get a confirmation we would have to pick another time due to work priorities. I went to bed.
ONLY THEN did she find time to communicate to say that she had me scheduled for the time she never actually confirmed or acknowledged.
So when I saw her text the next morning, I was like, "Aww sis, you never confirmed so I have a conflict now. But I'd love to find a date that works." She replies that she now is not going to do the service. Imma leave that decision alone. Whatever.
But when I asked her to refund the $50 I'd sent via Cash App, since she was choosing not to do the service, that's when I couldn't be gracious anymore. She tried saying that she can only do them via PayPal cuz that's how I paid and it has to go back on the card I used.
Naw. I paid you on CashApp.
Then she said she could only do a partial refund because of all of the scheduling issues.
Naw. I rescheduled only one time due to a random (but AMAZING) opportunity to go see a WNBA game. We were good after that. Then YOU double booked. YOU didn't confirm the appointment I tried to make AFTER you double booked.
I sent my receipts about my deposit AND how we got here with the scheduling.
She said that she would send my refund. That was on Tuesday.
I requested the $50 from her on CashApp, cuz why it take you so long to send me my money back?
Now it's Friday, and I STILL don't have my $50. She declined the request for refund.
I hate to talk negatively about a sister trynna do her thing. But nah. Gimme my money. Imma spread the word about how you stole $50 from me until I get my money back.
UPDATE: YOUR issues with YOUR schedule were why you decided we were not a good fit. I should'nt have to accommodate your lack of communication AND you bumping the appt I made with you (how you said I needed to) for YOU double booking my appt. I paid you via CashApp. You declined the request for refund on CashApp, & provided an incoherent excuse why you couldn't refund me on CashApp. I have yet to receive my refund. Until such time that I receive that money, you HAVE stolen...

I had the privilege of working with Chonte. I booked a consultation a little over a week ago, and she made me feel comfortable and excited about having my hair dreaded. I left feeling nothing but trust in her abilities. We booked a whole day to loc my WHOLE head, and no one could have taken better care to make sure I was comfortable and satisfied throughout the whole process. My new locs are tight, clean, put together, the exact width I wanted, and I didn't lose that much length on my hair. Not to mention all the products she used on my head felt great and smelled great. She even took the time (after being there for 9 hours) to style them for me.
