I normally wouldn’t bother leaving a critique review, but considering the prices being charged for the food I’m still in shock at what I received.
I ordered a burger for $14.00 (with fries) and it was inexcusable for what you’re charged.
The burger had NO seasoning, like actually none. I even tasted just the beef alone to make sure I wasn’t loosing my sense of taste, but no, literally barely a hint of salt.
The cheese was plastic and cheap, and barely any toppings to mask any of this - not that it tasted like anything to begin with. The bun was cold and not toasted, barely any sauce and topping it all off the whole thing wasn’t even hot, lukewarm at best.
The only redeeming aspect was the fries, which were pretty good but definitely frozen premade and cheap. They made me feel ill like I just ate way too much fast food, which is what I’d honestly call all this. $14.00 for a fast food meal without the drink.
Now I’ll admit, I ordered about 40min before kitchen closed. I can emphasize with cooks being tired at the end of a long day and maybe the kitchen was starting to be cleaned, but the quality of what is served should be the complete same from the first orders of the day to the very last. I am just so baffled that I paid $14.00 for a burger with fries when a cheeseburger from Mc Donald’s probably would’ve gave a more pleasurable experience.
The bartender & owner were great, super nice, and there’s a great atmosphere. Seems like a great bar at least. But if you’re going to charge top notch prices for food, your customers will be expecting higher quality product and at the minimum it to be cooked with at least some degree of professionalism.
I don’t write reviews often, but I was in shock. I want others to hopefully see this and possibly reconsider before being out a sizable chunk of cash because honestly, it was a joke. Except it’s not a funny joke, unfortunately. Beer and Burgers, more like Beer and Bland Burgers.
Let’s just say I’ve given up eating out entirely after this experience,...
Read moreRarely do I go to a place for the first time that I end up being super impressed. Lucky Horse Beer and Burger. Daisy greeted me with a big smile and a " sit where you like". I was in a Bloody Mary kinda mood and my bartender Molly stirred up a perfect one that I sipped on as I checked out the decor. They have an amazingly beautiful back bar, old with carved capitals and a gorgeous set of columns. After a friend suggested I try one of their burgers I ordered the Double Bacon and Cheddar Burger with Fries. All I can say is you need this burger in your life !!! LOL Double patties of Beef covered in Cheese, Pickle, Onions, Lettuce and a slice of ripe Tomato with an order of fries. It was everything a burger need to be !!! Back in my era we called this a Vegetable Cheese Burger Deluxe..this meal took me back in time to Ballard's Cafe and their Burger..a...
Read moreLove this place! The atmosphere is perfect - warm and cozy but still pretty spacious. The bartenders and servers have always been great and attentive every time we’ve come here. They easily have the BEST onion rings I’ve ever had - we get them every single time we come. I don’t know how they do it, but the onion rings are massive, perfectly crunchy, but not at all overly greasy. They’re amazing.
The Dog Town burger and honey sriracha chicken sandwich are both so so so yummy! I personally thought that the flatbread had a bit too much cheese for my taste, but a lot of people love tons of cheese so that’s just a personal thing for me. I think that the burgers and sandwiches are to die for, so I would definitely go with one of those over a flatbread.
And of course, the beer selection is extensive. Lots of Iowa beers on tap, and there’s something...
