The prices for their donated items are absolutely insane for a thrift store and I have been to hundreds of them. The staff isnât the easiest either. Even though items arenât tagged, tagged wrong or appear to be something else... theyâll change the prices to whatever they want. Are they short staffed? Why are the employees not so pleasant when this organization should be taking care of their people. As for the shop itself... An over abundance of items at a high cost. So much they have a row of several huge crates with clothing that is just thrown in all tangled, unattended, getting wrinkled up... $5 a piece???? Their other clothing is priced way to high with adult tops @ $6.99 minimum?? Some with wear and tear... All while they get highly discounted/donated items literally by the truck loads. I thought this organization was about the community? Whatâs that money going towards? Expansion and capitalizing on the people locally? The boys and girls club of Detroit lakes wouldnât be anything with out the donation of land and funds provided by locals who believe in the cause. But I think that cause is more for greed than for building up the community... I donât believe they give back to the people who created...
Read moreThrift stores have lost there way and this place is no exception. I stopped in to see what they had to offer and it was a decent selection but your better off going to Walmart down the street as the prices were the same, there were no deals. How can you say you are helping people when your pricing at retail. For example, a basic set of dishes, here dinner plates are $2 each, small plates are $1.50 and bowls at $2 and mugs $2 each so if you do the math a set of 4 would be $30 for used, donated goods, and a brand new set is retail $39.99 but if you find it on sale it's usually $29.99 for brand new. A set of dishes for a struggling family should be $10 tops and I sell them at flea markets for $5. I also seen they had the exact lifetime cooler I purchased a week ago at Walmart for the same price $109. This place is a scam, not helping out the people who really need it. Do better boys and girls club, help those...
Read moreThis store USED to be cheap when I started going there, but just in the last year, they have raised prices SIGNIFICANTLY. All books have tripled or more in price. They want $1.50 for CRAPPY VHS tapes now, what a joke!! Look at their electronics section: at or above retail for USED DVD / VHS players up to $30 a piece, come on. I was just there today and walked most of store, found only 1 good deal, but didn't feel like buying it because rest of store was so overpriced. I USED to love this store, but now prices and the new lay out suck. I live in Fargo and used to make trips to DL a lot to buy just at their thrift stores, but NOT anymore, only if I already have to be in DL, will I MAYBE walk into this store! They went from the cheapest thrift store in the area to the most expensive seemingly overnight....
