The rodeo was great. Be sure to get there early because parking and entry had long lines even with tickets purchased in advance.
Slack starts at 8 a.m. & is free. It is timed events that are part of the competition. If they had all the contestants at night it wouldn't be over before midnight or much later. Mornings are much cooler and very few spectators. I enjoyed the uncrowded more relaxed atmosphere to just see rodeo events not sweating so profusely as in the evening. Both times under the protection of the top on the grandstand is a must for shade and when I was there last year it rained. I was glad to not be soaked.
Bring cash for concessions, donations, & possibly vendors. Some vendors take plastic or electronic payments but not all do.
We had a three-year old with us who said it was too loud. Hearing protection for sensitive ears could be good. if you have stadium seats bring them! Your back and bottom...
