When we moved back to Dodgeville after 25 years away, we were really excited to see that this gem is still around! From the classic marquee to the legendary ticket booth, this theater is exactly what a well-preserved theater should be. Like many small businesses running on razor-thin margins, you will pay less by paying with cash, but that's a plus in my mind. Their popcorn is delicious, and their drinks are always fresh. Pat and Brian are always very friendly and helpful. Are the bathrooms small? Yes, because this place is a classic theater. During the time we were living elsewhere, Dodge Theater replaced all their seats with newer ones and put more space between the rows, so you don't have to squeeze part others. Will you experience the squishy recliners of bigger city theaters? No, but you also won't be paying an arm and a leg for tickets to new releases, either. The first time we went to a movie here after moving back, we bought tickets for two, a soda, and popcorn for just a little more than just one ticket in a big city. This theater is a gem that should be appreciated for what it is; a classic theater with awesome staff, good snacks, comfy seats, and a great small-town atmosphere. Go see movies here instead of driving elsewhere and paying more. What little you give up by not having a recliner is more than made up for by saving gas, time, and money, and you'll be supporting a local business that helps our downtown thrive and they help support our sports teams and...
Read moreIt's a small town theatre. The staff is really friendly and likable. The facility is very old... so it's not flashy, but it's still a great nostalgic movie-going experience. They have one movie screen. Prices are reasonable/ good. Movies rotate every 1-3 weeks (they have a partnership with State Theatres, so they have to run each movie for 3 weeks). The mix of movies is family friendly. Sometimes they will run a double-feature, which is awesome!
I'm THRILLED to have a theatre in Dodgeville, so I try to support them by attending often. :) Showings are almost never crowded... 10-20 people in a showing is rather common.
Unlimited refills on large drink...
Read moreI love this theater. It's not a huge screen, but it has an old atmosphere to it. from the original neon marquee out front to the lighting inside. But that doesn't mean that the picture and sound are old. The video is very clean and the sound really fills the room well. The staff is very friendly. Parking can sometimes be difficult to find as the theater is right across the street from one of the best restaurants in town. Dinner and a movie are...
