Sides Appliance & Furniture — Local services in Dora

I did not previously know about Sides Furniture in Dora until today, even though I have lived in Jasper since the end of 2020. I gave my business to them today as I had a time-sensitive need: my refrigerator went out last night and I was racking my brain trying to find a place that I could buy one and have it delivered today (Memorial Day). I am always about shopping locally/from local-owned businesses. While Sides was the 3rd place I came to in order to find a fridge that I could buy and receive in a time-sensitive manner, I am so glad that I did. Mr. Sides, Jr. and Sr., were both extremely helpful to me. I knew exactly what I was looking for and did call ahead of time to see if they were opened today (which I was thankful for, because many small businesses do close on holidays). When I arrived at the store, the atmosphere was very welcoming, the staff were extremely helpful and accommodating, and the huge variety of appliances to furniture to bedding was impressive. Mr. Sides, Jr., walked me straight back to their appliances section and showed me the options they had of what I had told him I was looking for. Almost immediately, I chose which one I wanted and I told him that I really needed it delivered today, which he was more than helpful to accommodate me on. They have wonderful financing options and were able to get me approved for one of their financing options quickly. The other associates working were also extremely helpful and very hospitable and inviting. The whole transaction of finding exactly what I wanted, getting approved for financing, signing paperwork, and the time it took for the fridge to get delivered to my house (in Jasper) took probably an hour, which is extremely quickly and I was very impressed at their efforts to suit my needs immediately. While I did choose to have the fridge only dropped off as my dad and I are privy on installing appliances, Mr. Sides did offer a delivery with installation just the very next day. I went to Home Depot before coming here, which was a terrible experience, and I'm so glad I ended up here. As I shop locally more and more, it is becoming even more evident that local business owners are here to help you with your individual needs in the timeframe you are requesting. 10/10 would very much recommend visiting the Sides family and other helpful associates here for all your home needs. Just baffled at why people go to a job and huff at customers when they ask for help. Everytime my elderly mother asked Gretchen about something regarding getting a dishwasher, stove, and recliner she huffed at her. She had NO KNOWLEDGE about anything for sale. She acted like she didn't want to be back there helping us or work at all really. She said she'd be right back she needed to go do something, I go to look at the recliners and she's just standing there behind the counter dazing off over the showroom. My mother who can barely walk and just had her hip replaced a few months is standing and waiting on her in the back to return. We've already purchased a lift chair, a stand up freezer, a side by side fridge and just paid off a thousand dollar washer 2 weeks ago. Didn't seem like they wanted a couple more thousand dollars of my money. As we go to leave she says something about helping us and I replied that it didnt seem like it. She hollers across the store "were doing our best". How embarrassing. I kinda expect this from the younger generations, but this woman was old enough to where she should know how to...

We've lived in Jasper 3 years now - moved from Houston, TX. Right after we moved, my husband's recliner broke. We were really pleased to find a beautiful oversized electric recliner made in the USA. And, for a fair price. Then... Good Friday- our deep freezer died! Anyone remember how hard it was to find certain items during COVID may be aware deep freezers were SCARCE!! Out of tons of calls, we were happy to hear they had 2. We purchased the larger, got it home and didn't lose any food! Then; in 2021 - our washing machine went out. So back to Side's we went! Bought a new washer and dryer. We've needed service on washer twice (1 ended up frozen water in the hose and this last the locking device broke) Not only are the sales staff friendly, professional and knowledgeable but their maintenance guy ROCKS! For both calls- he was out within 24 hours (more like with 6!)
