I’ve been to quite a few haunted houses now. One memorable experience was a haunted house done by an apostolic church, where you were the victim of the Saw movie, watching yourself on a TV screen. Another one in Neoga, Illinois, had you crawling over plexiglass with scary things popping out from underneath, which was pretty intense. Of course, there was also the classic chainsaw guy running toward you. I’ve also been to a haunted house where the room was so dark you couldn’t see your hand in front of your face, and clowns would creep up on you with lights on their faces. That one definitely stood out for the fear factor.
As for the one we went to yesterday, it didn’t quite match the same vibe. The acting wasn’t that great, and while it only took 30 minutes to get in with online tickets, we did catch up with the group in front of us at one point, which made us slow down to avoid ruining the experience. The scariest part was probably the slaughter room, and the funny ending with dancing clowns—yes, clothed, but still funny! It was a unique start to October. We’ve also been to Necrosis as well as a few local haunted backyard mazes. This was a tad bit less scarier than Necrosis, yet I still wouldn’t go in by...
Read moreThe Pig Man gets me EVERY TIME!! Down's Haunted House is still by far the best haunt Down's and any of the surrounding areas has to offer! IMHO. The price cannot be beat. Even when my husband and I even thought about going elsewhere, why? To pay double? We'd rather do Down's 3 scare pass and still be $5 cheaper then up the road! The Scares get better every year. They add or change something. In their small space, they truly utilize every knook and cranny! We love the gore make-up, the scarer's, the staff. They all do a great job & never break character. They give you a show inside and out. Not to mention a hayrack ride to and from parking! Lastly, let me not forget the food, for also a low cost. Baked goods, hot dog, corn dogs, and the chili. My husband and I got it for the first time this year and went back for seconds. It's a fun night out with friend's & Family. Dinner and a show! I reccomend you experience both! Can't wait...
Read moreFirst time at this haunt and the first haunted house experience for our granddaughters (15 and 9 year old twins). Overall, it's a great set up, fun community event, and passionate volunteers that make it all happen. A huge shout out to all who participate.
The scare actors were all great, sets well designed (hallways a bit tight in several places), and varied sound effects that all really set the mood.
The only negative was one of the granddaughters became very scared when the scare actors were circling her and she started to cry. Instead of backing off, they continued to circle her (we were surrounding her too). Grandpa told them to back off and we picked her up and moved on. She settled down eventually and today she said she had fun, so overall a fun...
