Duluth Antique Marketplace — Local services in Duluth

Good variety of stuff at (somewhat) reasonable prices. Knocked down quite a few pegs because the music is always blasting when I'm there, and it's always either pop or country. Not a good look for an antique store. I've even had to ask them on several visits to turn it down. Last time I was there a cup fell off a shelf and broke (no one bumped into it, it just happened). A friend of mine did the responsible thing and went to the counter to tell them there was an accident with broken glass on the floor, and they did nothing about it. No joke, customers were continuing to walk over/around broken glass because no one did anything, there was no warning sign put out, nothing. Found out that the lady at the counter didn't do anything because she didn't even work there... She was place-holding for the lady who was moving some furniture. We couldn't even check out. We eventually decided to leave because we weren't getting service for a long time and the neglected hazard of broken glass was a sign that this place wasn't very good, whether they were understaffed or in need of some growth somewhere. Like I said, I like the stuff they have there. They've got some local crafters as vendors, which is great in addition to the vendors that resell antiques and oddities. On June 10th, 2023 around 4:25pm I just lost my partner a week ago.. and I was trying to shop to make myself feel better. As I’m walking around the store looking to purchase some taxidermy bugs I overheard the 3 old women running the store… they were loudly talking about me “the girl looking around at the bugs” and how I’m the “heavy set one in shorts”… when I called them out on how it’s unprofessional and hurtful to make comments like that around customers as they could be listening. They started to back track once caught. I’m so hurt. I’m not heavy set.. you don’t know what people are going through. Having someone that old and sick in the head should not be working with the public. Because honey, let me tell you, your the heavy set old one with an ugly heart. My family, friends, and I will not be shopping here in the future. I will continue to spread the word about the people who work here and their thoughts on their customers.

I don’t deserve to drive home crying feeling bad about myself when I have already lost my soul mate.

EDIT: This lady was also following me around the store and kept asking to take the taxidermied bugs to the front. Now looking at others bad review experiences… this woman is a problem. As long as she’s working there, I won’t be back to...

I visited the store on Friday, February 14, 2025, and was assisted by two women at the front counter. Unfortunately, one of them behaved in a highly inappropriate manner toward my husband, making comments that made both of us uncomfortable. This not only reflected poorly on the store’s customer service and professionalism but also left a negative impression on our shopping experience.

I had planned to make several purchases but ultimately decided against supporting a business where an employee openly makes inappropriate remarks toward my husband while I am present.
