Dealing with housing at this post was truly a nightmare. The apartment was nice, and maintenance was very professional and expedient, but outprocessing was the absolute worst experience I've ever had in my life. They charged us a fortune, led my husband to believe he HAD to sign the form to outprocess, and when I tried to deal with them to avoid the exorbitant payment they were rude, aggressive, and dismissive. We are very clean people, and when we left every other post we've been stationed at we owed no money. They charged us for things like streaks on the mini blinds, cleaning above the cabinets, and under the fridge. These things were on the checklist (except the streaks on mini blinds) which the housing office smugly and rudely pointed out over and over when I tried to discuss things with them, but the paper was misplaced by my husband I hadn't seen it. All I wanted was the chance to go back in and fix the issues, and they refused. IMO we should ALWAYS be allowed to rectify the problem before being charged. We had to pay over $400 for minor issues like this, and they refused to allow me back into the apartment to rectify these issues. These issues were not on the pre-inspection form, which housing said was just for maintenance. I disagree that this should be the only use for the pre-inspection. I have never in my life been as disrespected as I was by housing when I emailed them. If I had to do it again, I'd definitely never have moved on post. I contacted ICE to no avail. I asked for a grievance and was told that by signing the paper agreeing to the charges (which OUTRAGEOUSLY only the soldier has to sign, how sexist is that?) he waived the family's right to grieve the charges. They're bullies, and they're robbing soldiers and...
Read moreThis is my 8th duty station in the last 17 years and ranks at the top for state side duty stations. I have been here for two years come October 1st. Weather: nearly 5 months of nice weather (end of April to first of September); so for those who say it rains all the time look outside! Now the other 7 months not much sun at all and rains like most of the comments state but you cannot let the weather make decisions for you during this time of year. Not much snow since I have been here as well. Last year my son and I made a snowman on one day and it was completely melted 2 days later. Summer is awesome! There are so many festivals, events, and other activities to do in this area (Google search or ITR). If the other comments say there are none then they stay home all day and have a personality different from someone who likes to have fun. You can travel to different islands, Canada, and other states in the area very easy. Someone posted a crime comment about their GF which is very sad and I hope the Soldiers that did it spend a long time behind bars. There is crime every place you go and in every population including the military. If we didn’t have crime there would be no need for CID agents, military police, and investigators on post. We still have a lot of trouble makers in the military due to the surge of Soldiers for war. Now as you can see from all the cuts in the officer and enlisted ranks plus low reenlistment options we are trying to get back the basics which we lost when the standards dropped. If you have to come here make the best of it and get out to do things. My top 3 state side stations are San Antonio, Fort...
Read moreWell first off housing. We lived in a housing area that was to small they moved us to Madigan housing a tree fell on our tiny house then they moved us to brick housing where they turned a one bedroom attached to a 3 bedroom to make 4 . But everything it Raines water backed up in your shower and tub and sewer would run back. SO THEY MOVED Us TO Field Ave where it was a brand new house. All these houses in 2 years. They put this modular home three trailers on top three on bottom together in 3 days made me wonder if the connections were good. We did have a fire in the fuse box first day which made me angry. They put in radon and radiation detectors under the house in the crawl space that should have been a warning. We found out they had burried containers of chemicals 45 years prior under this area. We stayed in that house for 9 years. When we went to move in the drawers had issues the carpets had nails coming through and the walls were cracked. I vedioed everything wrote everything down and trust me 3 pages of stuff. When we went to move out they were not happy I had written it all down and I had a certified copy. They were going to charge me 3000.00. Thank God I had the paperwork of issues. I was charged 5.00 for a knob on the drawer. We kept that house spotless. The pros were it was open concept and nice the cons were it was right next to the on ramp for I5 and we got shot at one night. Thankfully it didn't come through the house. Would I live there again yes but not under that management. They didn't repair things when needed and tried to over charge people for stuff already wrong...
