The Peanut Shoppe — Local services in Durant

I want to give a MASSIVE shout out to this WONDERFUL place the peanut shoppe in Durant Oklahoma. The employees there some wonderful human beings. I’ve been going here for 25+ years and today this was the first time I brought my son. The lady who I think is the main boss she remembers me and I told her I brought my son for the first time she goes “I’ll be right back” and she finds me with a deluxe chocolate covered marshmallow that they sell in there and gave it to my son and told the cashier this is on the house and she told me “let’s make this first time rememberable for him ☺️” and the kindness my son was treated here with is top tier. I will ALWAYS be coming back here for as long as I’m alive and my son will remember that moment forever. I don’t care if I’m halfway across the world if I come back here I’ll make it a point to come here because of that moment.

If you never been here DESPERATELY urge you to come here. The food they sell is one of a kind like specialty preserves, AMAZING jerky prepared in house, beautiful tasty brittles and barks and amazing candies and all and all I again URGE you to stop here and give these people your business.

We ordered 2lbs of jerky over the phone. At the time they were unable to give me the total my card would be charged. Granted, I was leery but agreed to process the order. As soon as I hung up, a friend called and placed an order as well. She spoke to a man and I placed my order with a lady. My friend asked that they please give BOTH of us a call before the order was processed and give us a total. She gave both of our numbers to the gentleman. We NEVER received calls. My card was charged almost 66.00 for 2 bags of jerky. I would have NEVER paid that amount!!! When I called, no one cares. They said both of us had been called and they left messages. I can understand maybe one of us not getting a message but not both. Terrible terrible customer service. I will never go back. I feel as though they were dishonest, tricked us, and charged my card without permission. Needless to say, they hung up on me when I complained. Please don't give this place...

This is a small shop with quite a bit of square footage, a delicious variety of goods but no spark, life or excitement, at least not on the day I visited. This place is cute. From what I understand in Durant, Oklahoma was a dying little town until they got a casino and the Chamber of Commerce worked like crazy to get the town up and running. Unfortunately, this little stop seems like it is hanging on by a thread. They have delicious peanuts, peanut and pecan brittle, popcorn, various lots of different flavors, jelly, etc. The only problem I experienced was that no one said hello when I walked in or acknowledged my existence in any way. When I finally stepped back to the kitchen to make an inquiry about buying a gift certificate, the lady quickly responded that they do not sell them but that they probably should, indicating that they have received that request previously but have not begun...
