Today I was supposed to be seen by Dr. Michaels, however, that did not occur. I was informed at the front desk I would not be able to have the consult with my provider due to me having my baby with me. Apparently Duke has recently made a policy change you cannot bring your baby with you to your appointments due to concerns for RSV. None of that information was communicated with me prior to my appointment. The information was not mentioned in MyChart. Also, I was seen at another Duke Clinic the same day with no issues. The lady working at the front desk did attempt to jabber her coworker to see if I could still be seen. The nurse or tech for Dr. Michael’s comes out and states I can not be seen with a baby and then she starts asking the lady at the front desk if I’m post op and I tell her no. She was adamant that I would not be seen at all. I ask the nurse if the doctor has weekend appointments and she states no. At this point I begin to request information from the lady working at the front desk for the manager, because I found the whole situation unprofessional. The PA for Dr. Michael’s did end up coming out to speak with me and gives me the option to set up a telehealth appointment. This was a reasonable solution, however, the tech or nurse for Dr. Michael’s did not present that option at all. Patients should not be disregarded like that . This is how medical problems...
Read moreI am currently 4.5 months post-op from Gastric Bypass. Dr. Jain-Spangler was my surgeon. I started this journey just after by birthday in June with Duke WLS Clinic. This clinic and team is very thorough, they treat your health at a holistic level. It’s not just about getting surgery. When you sign on with Duke, you are assigned a surgeon (or you can choose one), a team of dieticians, PA’s, and a nurse. You meet with a psychiatrist who specializes in working with weight loss surgery patients. This step is crucial to ensure you are prepared for the hard work that comes with weight loss surgery. At the first info session you are provided with a diet plan to start following from that day, with small incremental goals to work on. My surgery was in October, 4.5 months after my first appointment, but that allowed me time to start establishing good eating habits, with the full team support. I appreciate what Duke WLS Clinic has equipped me with and feel 100% confident I will reach my goals! I...
Read moreI wish we could leave a ZERO star review. My wife started her appointments in May, stating outright that she needed a procedure done by the end of the year to make financial sense since we met our insurance deductibles this year. Several delays from Dr Seymour's office and the Dr herself, and here we are at the end of the year and the procedure isn't to be scheduled before years' end. Can't get a hold of anyone, ever. The final nail in the coffin was my wife on the procedure table in the OR, and the power goes out. They waited for it to come back on. Dr decides to leave the premises. She leaves the room less than a minute and the power comes back on. Then she's nowhere to be found or attempt to locate. Their answer? Just reschedule. Hour to get there, hour to get back home PLUS another month lost in time. Trust us, find another Dr and weight loss clinic and practice. They just cost us thousands. At some point, this should be considered just outright negligence to carry on an...
