15 REASONS WHY COSTCO IS THE BEST
The prices. Prior to September 15, 1983, buying items in bulk made you look like either a criminal suspect or an obsessive hoarder. Really, who needs a 3-dozen carton of eggs and a 12-pack of muffins? Unless you want to become a muffin, youâre Kate Gosselin or are a member of the Duggar clan, that is. Flash-forward to today and youâd be crazy not to buy these items in bulk. The price per unit is an absolute steal and youâre left with extra cash to knock a few items off your holiday gift list. Try this suggestion from Frugal 101: If you have kids and need to save on school supplies, get a group of parents together, have everyone chip in a few dollars and then divvy up a large pack of markers, pens, paper, and any other supplies the teacher requires. For the holidays, take a look at Costcoâs impressive selection of DVDs. My greatest find was The Seinfeld Complete Series DVD Collection for just under $100. Yes, I said under $100. Of course, skepticism ensued and I questioned whether half the DVD pockets were empty. The only thing ridiculous about this illustration is that I doubted Costco for a millisecond. The DVDs were in impeccable condition, there were no missing disks and they even included bonus features. For once, I actually purchased a gift that my boyfriend liked.
Feeling like a VIP. Upon entering Costco, shoppers must pull out their membership cards for the store clerk to view. If youâre a rookie, you likely belong to the Gold Star club. If youâre a Costco veteran, canât seem to go a weekend without a trip to the warehouse or simply refuse to shop anywhere else, you likely own an Executive Membership and enjoy an annual 2% reward on your Costco purchases. If youâre fortunate enough to have an Executive Membership card in your wallet, congratulations, youâve made it to the top. Admit it, you feel kind of cool flashing your black and gold card to gain access into the building. Just try to remember that youâre not a CIA agent.
Return policy. Did your printer break? Is your new Ninja Ultra Kitchen System not chopping properly? All you have to do is return it pretty much whenever you want. If youâre busy binge watching all of Homeland and canât fathom leaving the couch this weekend, just take it back in a couple of years. Youâll still get all of your money back.
Organic options. Whole Foods and specialty nutrition shops are great, but theyâll cost you your next few paychecks, and some. Solution: weave in and out of Costcoâs food aisles to see what new organic and eco-friendly products are in store. A few of my all time favorites are the Earthly Choice Organic Quinoa, Carrington Farms 100% Organic Coconut Oil and Kirkland Signature Environmentally Friendly Laundry Detergent in natural lavender scent. If you want to take it to the next level, knock yourself out with the Kirkland Signature Eco Friendly Liquid Dish Soap. Not satisfied with how this soap cuts grease? See number three. If youâre not into store brand products, Costco now carries hair and body wash by Jessica Albaâs all natural product line, The Honest Company.
Costco Carries What?! This holiday season, surprise your child with a Metropolis Play System for just $18,999.99. If you canât live in the city, simply bring the city to your back yard with this outdoor playground that comes luxuriously furnished with a sky loft and extra wide monkey bars. While youâre at it, treat yourself to an Almost Heaven Deluxe Sauna that comes shaped like a wine barrel. A bit unnecessary? Maybe. But if you could, you probably would, right?
Costco gas. If you didnât already know, Costcoâs gas prices are typically between $0.10 and $0.20 cheaper than the nearest gas station. Costco might not have the fun squeegee stations but itâs a small price to pay for...
Read moreI consider myself a bit of a Costco snob. Unfortunately, the nearest Costco is it a bit of a drive from my home compared to our local Sam's Club. So my review today will take the consideration the competition. Let me start by saying I love Costco! Their products are quality, their stores are usually pretty clean (considering how many people shop there), and the employees are very friendly and helpful. Unlike Sam's Club, they are almost always fully staffed.
What I am about to write might be the only thing I don't like about Costco, so here it goes.
I understand how retail stores are trying to save money with the self checkout lines. Costco's is an utter disaster. The fact that you have to take your heavy, bulk, items out of your cart, scan them, then put them on the scale, then put them back in your cart is unacceptable. It's faster just to go have One of the friendly workers do it for you the old fashioned way. But you might say, "but they usually have a worker that can come and scan your heavy items for you!" If this is the case, then what is the purpose of the self checkout line in the first place? On top of that, there is usually one worker for every six self-checkout lines and they are almost always trying to help somebody else so it's a complete waste of time. I do everything in my power to avoid using the self-check outlines at Costco.
If you've never shopped at Sam's Club, let me tell you about that experience. You have two options.
The first option is that you can go to the self checkout line, take the scanning gun that is available at each line, scan your items while they are in your cart, pay, have your receipt checked, then leave the store.
The second option is called Scan and Go. With this option you use an app on your phone to pay for all of your items as you shop, you then pay for everything from your phone, have one of the checkout people scan your electronic receipt to make sure you aren't stealing anything, and leave the store. It is quick, seamless, and works extremely well. I rarely see long lines at Sam's Club.
Costco, please address this. You are better than...
Read moreThis location is racist and if you are a POC I don't recommend coming here at all. Don't believe me? Literally go to reviews click on "6+" then click on "employees 17" most of them talk about employees being racist and some guy named Jason. My mom has been a member of Costco for years and we just started going to this Costco. When we came, yesterday on Sunday, the workers were acting weird and nothing in my mind registered as "racist" until my mom brought up. At first I thought she was just saying that but the reviews from here confirmed it. First, I noticed how when we were leaving, an older white lady checking our receipt didn't say hi to us and took a long time just staring at the receipt and then our cart like we were stealing or something. I don't mind her not saying hi but after my mom and I left we stopped and checked behind us on purpose just to see the SAME LADY who checked our receipt say hi to another white lady and only looked at her receipt for like a few seconds. First of all, why are you assuming that we are stealing?? You should be focused on YOU and YOUR ANCESTORS cus ya'll are the BIGGEST STEALERS IN HISTORY. Anyways, my mom also went to return some stuff and another older white lady was was very dry and rude to us. I could sense that she didn't like us from the start, not from our non-existent attitude, not from our body language, but simply because of our color. This location is racially motivated and this needs to be looked into by authorities. Managers don't care because if they did, they would respond to comments like these and even talk with their employees. Hmm I wonder why they don't...OH maybe because the manager is RACIST THEMSELVES so of course they will condone and encourage this behavior. Something needs to be done about this, this isn't the 1800's this is 2025. Can't believe đđ» people still act like this as if they didn't create racism themselves. They just can't seem to get over it. Anyways if your reading this don't come here and if your the manager, don't delete my comment because I'll just keep posting it constantly. Actually, go ahead and delete, it see...
