Supermercado Monarca — Local services in East Moline

This place is great if you love anything Mexican food wise. It's a great supermarket with a great deli. In my opinion, they have a great selection. If you love homemade chicharones they are the spot. If you love homemade pan dulces, they got you. The only thing that I could say negative about this place is that if you don't speak Spanish you just don't feel right in here. I am Hispanic but I was not raised to speak Spanish And it's kind of like they look at you differently and treat you differently. The reason I say that is because it happened in front of me. There was a Hispanic older gentleman that was speaking Spanish to them and he was treated very well with smiles and such and then I went through the register and she was just really quiet, didn't smile, kind of like I was a bother. The restaurant in the back is an unspoken secret of the citizens of the area, but man is it fantastic. If you're looking for quick, cheap and authentic Mexican food: look no further. And enjoy only spending $5-ish on a burrito as big as your arm.

As a grocery store it's also pretty fantastic. Between here and Hoang-Anh across the street, you'll find pretty much any imports you could hope to find. The staff are efficient and friendly and will make you feel welcome no matter who you are.

I used to love this store. I’m Mexican American and was never taught to speak Spanish!! However I understand it!! I was very disappointed in the behavior of the cashiers! They had no shame speaking about the customer in front of me or me in my face. I held my anger in as I am a grown adult!! Never again will they get me or any of my families money again! In this scary place we live in now being racist against your own kind cause we were not taught is ignorance!! I will be taking myself to Martinez...
