The Nerdy Baker LLC — Local services in East Providence

My wife and I have gone to the Nerdy Baker a few times and they have a great product but the service leaves something to be desired. For context, we have been patrons of this establishment since just about the time it opened. We enjoyed their product so much that I decided to get my wife's birthday cake from them. The day came to pick it up and I was informed that I wasn't supposed to pick it up until the late afternoon and nothing had been started. This was never communicated, to my knowledge, but I let it go as things happen. My wife's baby shower cake was then ordered and it came out beautifully and everything was perfect. Our most recent visit was anything but. We came in to order our daughter's birthday cake. We had a couple questions regarding it and asked to speak to the owner, who would ultimately be handling it. The gentleman out front informed us that she was "Too busy". When we started to ask questions in regards to the order he kept going in the back to ask the owner and coming back with answers having nothing to do with what we asked. We once again asked to speak to the owner and was once again told "She is too busy" and to come back later. I don't own a business myself but being "Too busy" to speak with a potential customer and not valuing their time is no way of doing business, no matter how good of a product you may have. I won't ever force a business to take my money, so we will not be returning to this...

I really root for Anita! I hope she makes it big because her work is STUNNING and DELICIOUS and UNIQUE. SHE makes everything it's own. Every cupcake is like a custom mini cake, not just a different batter with the same frosting on everything. There's touches and details to each different one. My favor items are the apple spice cupcakes...they're incredible and the frosting is creamy with a bit of spiced apple on top! (Literally every cupcake is different...also a huge fan of the Oreo and frog ones if you're a chocolate lover. The cinnamon toast crunch one is incredible...they're all incredible!). My other favorite is the chocolate covered strawberries...they're great quality, they're HUGE and juicy and delicious! And she isn't skimpy with the chocolate - they're covered thick - AND I got them custom made for a "naughty" Valentine's Day gift which really made me so happy and excited. Plus, SHE was evicted to do the order for me which was just a hugely pleasant customer service experience for me. When I tell you that she is more than worth her prices, it's the honest truth. She's EXTREMELY talented and artistic with her decorating, too...she does things with cake must people can't do with anything! And the range of things she can do blows me away. Great service from the older lady that was at the counter. Not worth the price theyre a bit expensive. All 4 of the cupcakes were absolutely GORGEOUS but they were extremely dry, we bought the oreo, smores, pj&j, and strawberry crunch. Ontop of that we bought a chocolate croissant which was definitely not fresh it was extremely hard and I could barely chew it, but the cream cheese frosted cinnamon roll was pretty good! My boyfriend and I also ordered the #2 and #6 wraps and the nice lady working told us that she didn’t even know what was on the #9 as the usual griddle person was not there, which is poor cross training but regardless she did a great job improvising because our wraps came out pretty yummy just not very filling!

Went back again to give them a second chance and the pastries were all very fresh and tasty! We ordered a coconut macaroon, a slice of pizza, and a few different cookies, all phenomenal and baked to perfection! The person behind counter was extremely nice and super helpful I just didnt catch their name. I also ordered a 9” custom cake that came out so beautifully, so so moist and really yummy, it was a hit with all the kids and adults! I will be ordering here again for any future events.
