EDIT: from 1 star to 5 stars. Wendy, the manager, corrected this issue with her staff and myself. She provided an AMAZING brand new full set for me and made sure I was comfortable and happy the whole time. She also talked to her new staff member who originally was doing my nails to make sure this doesn’t happen again. I am so happy with my nails and my experience and I will definitely be coming back. I have been hesitant to write this review as it’s never my intention to bash a business, however I feel compelled to share my experience in case it might spare someone else of the same trouble. I came for an appt I booked over the phone. This was my first time coming here and I wanted to love it. I already have a great nail tech but he’s in St. Paul which is a bit of a drive and this place is very close to my home. They had an amazing photo gallery online as well as a great color selection so I was very excited. I arrived with a few broken nails so I told her that I needed a possible removal and fresh set or a repair and fill. She starts to work on my nails and begins trying to rip off my old set with another unused acrylic tip and a cuticle scissors . I’ll admit that I should have told her to stop immediately as I knew this was not the proper technique as they are supposed to be soaked in acetone, but I felt bad telling her how to do her job and I just felt uncomfortable. She ended up really hurting one of my nails so she decided to soak them. However she pulled out a community acetone tub with a sponge in it for the soaking which is very unsanitary. She had me put all of my fingers inside except for the one she damaged and then continued to try to rip off the rest of that nail. I let her know she was hurting me and she still continued with the same method until eventually a fainting pain response was triggered and I ended up getting very faint, nearly passing out, and throwing up before an ambulance arrived that I believe another customer called for me. I know I should have spoken up sooner and been more assertive but I also feel as though I shouldn’t have to tell people how to do a service they are trained and paid to do. I apologize for the bad review but I hope this can be a learning experience for the business as I wanted to love this...
Read moreI really hate to change my review, but I can’t in good conscience recommend this place when they employ nail techs who hurt people.
I went in yesterday just to remove my acrylics. The nail tech did NOT soak them in acetone, but after drilling off the top layer, used an uncut nail extension to FORCE OFF my acrylics. Needless to say this was incredibly painful and I was visibly flinching. I know I should have just asked her to stop but I rarely get acrylics and I thought maybe this was normal. Looking at other reviews, another person had this EXACT experience 6 months ago.
It hurt so badly that after she had done my right hand, I asked if she could please soak the nails in acetone first to soften them. She seemed annoyed but took these jars with acetone-soaked sponges inside. It looked unsanitary and gross tbh but it was better than no acetone. She still used an extension to force off the rest of my nails, but didn’t bother removing all of the acrylic where it was stubborn, so I was left with a few lumpy nails.
When I got home, my nails were incredibly raw and painful, and I saw that she had ripped literal CHUNKS out of my natural nails. I don’t know if I’ll be able to get acrylics again until this grows out, which is really upsetting because I have a few important events coming up. It stings every time I wash my hands or accidentally touch my nails.
This is not okay. If people are paying for a service, it shouldn’t be painful or damaging. Daisy Nails, PLEASE train your staff not to keep using this technique. I know now that it’s not normal or recommended by legitimate nail technicians, and I wish I’d known yesterday to just walk away. Lovely experience, definitely recommend coming here! My nail tech was super sweet and friendly, and the place is also incredibly clean...
Read moreWe made an appointment and were on time. When we went in we discussed how long the services would take because my daughter needed to get to an event. We decided it would be possible to do an express mani, just polish on the toes, and eyebrows. After my daughter contacted me to tell me they didn't start her when I left, (this was like over 20 minutes later) I called and spoke with Daisy nails directly and told them just to do color on the fingernails, no manicure, no toes and no eyebrows since at that point, I wasn't sure there would be enough time to do what was planned. I was waiting for my daughter to say they were done so I could pick her up or send my husband since we live close. When I arrived the fingers were painted and she had done the eyebrows. I was surprised because I specifically told them not to do the brows. I wish they would have had her ask me. They knew I had told them to skip everything because of the time constraint. I paid $15 for polish. and $15 for brows. I think the best thing in the future to prevent miscommunication is to double check with the person paying. I ended up having to compromise with the service she really needed which was a manicure and getting a service that could have waited. She was there for 1 hour...
