My fiance and I have about 40 escape rooms under our belt. We oftentimes will go to the same escape room location to do as many of the rooms as we can. This location was no exception. We started out by doing the Scooby Doo room and worked our way to the Batman room. The only room we haven't done is Who Stole Mona. The following are our thoughts on each room, beware there might be minor spoilers
Scooby Doo was a lot of fun, we don't really like smelling puzzles but other than that the puzzles made sense, they were fun and we only needed one hints I believe. Overall we enjoyed it and if we were just rating the rooms we would rate it a 3/5
Pirate's Curse was probably our second favorite room! We loved a lot of the puzzles and there was only one that we really struggled with but it seems like they have modified that puzzles because no one is able to complete it without a hint or two. Overall 4/5
Lost City was our absolute favorite room! It flowed so well and all of the puzzles made sense and worked wonderfully together. We had one puzzle that took us a minute but otherwise it was fantastic. Overal 5/5
7 Deadly Sins was said to be the hardest room and I think we enjoyed it well enough. There were some clues that were a little disconnected that we ended up needing hints for but we got there in the end and we really loved some of the effects. The biggest downside of this room was the excessive smoke in one of the rooms more on that later. Aside from the smoke we had a good time with this room and would rate it a 3.5/5
Batman..... Oh boy where do I start.... We hate this room, we have done 40 escape rooms as I mentioned and this is the first one we've failed, which was no fault of our own, the room is just bad in our opinion. The clues were bad and the hints we were given confused the crap out of us. When we asked for information at the end of the room the GM didn't seem to know what was going on. The reasons she gave didn't make sense with anything we had in the room and she seemed to brush it off like it did make sense without connecting any dots for us, this left us confused and extremely frustrated. A lot of the puzzles would have probably made more sense if half of the things in the room weren't broken and we hadn't been pulled in so many different directions by hints given to us without asking. This genuinely made us consider contacting them to ask for a refund. This was another room with excessive smoke especially if you fail the room. Overall 1/5 (and that's being generous)
I said I would bring up the smoke again, this would be a fantastic thing to note on the website or pamphlet and perhaps have an option to get rid of the smoke or keep it to a minimum so people don't end up choking on it.
We genuinely enjoyed all of the rooms we did aside from Batman. We had a great experience with Miriam and Isa who were our hosts for the rooms we did. We had a wonderful time in our rooms with Kayla, Isa, and Ari as our GMs, the ones they were in charge of went very well and were...
Read moreLet me start off by saying that we have been to several different escape rooms throughtout El Paso. This one by far is the most expensive at $40 a person, and though the rooms are nice after our experience today I would not recommend going back. I will note that we have been here twice already and the first time was amazing. We did the Batman room and it was highly enjoyable. The front desk and the game master were very helpful and friendly. This time however we did the Scooby Doo Room and though the room itself was okay, we encountered problems that we had not the first time. The first gentleman when we arrived at the front was very friendly but everything went downhill from there. Last time, we had a total of 6 including my 4 year child who tagged along. We were not told anything about her the first time and I would hope that the first people will not get in trouble because they are the only reason why we came back for a second time as they hyped us up for the Scooby Doo room. However, this time I was hassled about having to pay an additional $40 for 4 year child who does not participate, just tags along. There had been confusion as to what the rules say which even the the front desk agreed was confusing online but I was told that only babies that are carried the entire time or in a stroller are free. None of the other escape rooms have this policy as I have taken my daughter to all of them. I explained to them that I had already been here with her and they did not tell us anything about having to pay for my daughter. I asked for the manager but they said that they could take my information and pass it along. They also stated that they could not find my information, saying that I had not been there before but I showed her the email that we had been there just a week prior. We even have picture proof that all of us had been there. To avoid any problems I offered to pay for her but they were unable to add her so they allowed it this time to avoid "any one getting upset." We left it at that, however when I went the restroom, the other people in my party arrived and then another front desk hassled them about there being 6 people and having to pay for another person. I explained that we had already been through this with the other front desk people and they said okay. We thought this was the end but for the rest of the game, we noticed the game master was not very friendly anymore and we sensed tension. Because of this, we felt uneasy and did not enjoy the rest of the game. The reason for the two stars is because the first time we went was great but this time...
Read moreIâve done over a dozen escape rooms, and Iâve never experienced anything like this. My family did the Mansion Murder room, and multiple elements of the room were broken/non-functional (piano, safe). The worst part is we were not informed of this, and spent nearly 20 minutes combined struggling with puzzles that we had already solved correctly, but thought we were doing something wrong because the broken machines werenât able to read our inputs. Eventually both times someone manually overrode the machine, and informed us that it had been broken for a while, but there was a âmiscommunicationâ with our game master and they didnât realize they had to manually override it (more on that later).
As if this wasnât frustrating enough, the âhintsâ in this game were so terrible they genuinely felt like rage-bait. While struggling to figure out what we were doing wrong on the piano puzzle (spoiler alert: nothing, the piano was just broken), we pressed the hint button 7 or 8 times. EVERY TIME we were given a hint for either a puzzle we had already completed as long as 15 minutes ago, or for something we had already figured out regarding the broken puzzle we were working on. It was infuriating for the whole family. There was clearly no one watching us during our game; after several useless hints we were all yelling and waving at the cameras, to no avail. Eventually my mother had to exit the game to find an employee, who came and manually bypassed the broken puzzle.
The whole experience was incredibly negative. We made it out with about 5 minutes left on the clock, and the whole family left extremely frustrated and annoyed. When we expressed our frustrations and described the multitude of problems we faced after the game, we were simply told that there was a communication error with our game master regarding the broken equipment, and that someone was indeed watching us (which simply could not be true), and they donât know what the problem was with the hints but âwill look into itâ. They also offered us a discount coupon to use on our next game with them, which was laughable because we absolutely will not...
