Scenic Drive turned 100 in 2020! No birthday party until 2022, though (gee, thanks, pandemic!)

I am so lucky to have this El Paso gem right in my backyard. It's stunning any time of day, but especially on clear days and nights. Every time I drive it, I look out over the beautiful El Paso and Juárez horizon and reflect on the deep interdependence and connection of our two side-by-side (or riverbank-by-riverbank) cities.

Whether you're local, or a visitor, if you haven't done Scenic Drive by car, foot, bike, etc., you are missing out.

This is always a nice spot to visit. The wind was so cold on the night we went so we didn’t get to enjoy it too much. But I bet on a nice summer day this is just absolutely even more beautiful. The parking can be a little confusing at night. But just be patient and circle back around because most people don’t take too long to get off the car to look and move along. Take a flash light or make sure your phone is charged because at night you need to see if your going to go down the stairs to look on the lookout. Even if its not a clear ski, the view is absolutely breath taking. Being able to see two countries at the same time is quite a delight and rarity. Be wary of closing time though. Even if there are food trucks and it seems inviting at 21:30ish...fight the temptation and go another day, 30 mins isn't enough to take it all in!!! There are undercover cops who hang out around closing time, in which they "round up" everyone around and begin issuing tickets for being in a public park after closing.
