The staff (meaning my waiter, which took me to my table took my order and took my payment) was pleasant Atmosphere is typical Texas cowboy, but with Italian romance music, which was bizarre .. not bad, just odd. I ordered Bacon wrapped filets, medium-rare/ medium. I told waiter I was concerned with the steak being overcooked .. and it was. The filet pieces were so small, there was no way to properly cook the bacon without overcooking the steak. That stated, the bacon was quite delicious and the star of that tray. Presentation was, well, you decide My entree was the Chicken fried chicken with dinner gravy and a loaded potatoe. The chicken tasted fresh as did the fried ness. It was not greasy, which is a plus. Chicken was a bit tough though, that was disappointing. Most disappointing was the utter lack of flavor, and you KNOW for me, Flavor is King! The chicken and gravy just lacked any taste honestly. I was able to juice it up with bacon from the appetizer and some salt and pepper, but otherwise quite bland. The loaded potato was quite good though, with the fixings! Overall I would return, because the quality of the food was good and atmosphere and staff were nice .. I might bring along some garlic or sea salt to add to your dish ; ) Pricing I thought was quite reasonable also Kinda...
Read moreWe’ve visited Joseph’s a few times and are always excited by their potential, because the food is always great. But be sure to plan your night around it.
Pros: Nice ambiance as always, especially for an Anniversay dinner, as ours was. The steaks were great and well cooked (had the T-bone and chicken fried). Sides were a nice portion size and delicious....and the warm bread was melt in your mouth! My cocktails were also perfectly made. This is the the go-to place in Elgin for an Old Fashioned. The service was good, and she did an amazing job keeping at least 25 people happy, considering there was one server for 10 tables.
Cons: There was only one waitress last time we visited, so I’m not sure if they are just trying to save money, or only use one server to keep “up” with the kitchen. A long drawn out two hour dinner in Elgin is really unnecessary, and the experience would be SO much more pleasant without all the waiting. The sign on Main Street said they’d be moving to the old City Cafe\Brique location. Excited for the extra foot traffic they will surely get...As long as they hire some help, and don’t make the same pricing mistakes that...
Read moreI want to give this establishment 4.5 stars. My only issue is that I have food allergies, so I wasn't able to have the carmelized onions on my steak (butter, New York strip, flavorful, juicy and delicious) or have the fries (they use peanut oil in the fryers). The bacon wrapped sirloin tips were cooked as requested and made my mouth water. I could have made a meal out of a couple orders of this, alone. The vegetables were PERFECT. Green beans cooked, but still crispy, as if fresh from the garden, and asparagus that was to die for....regardless of the thickness, the entire stalk was tender and juicy with a little bit of crisp at the tips from the grill. My wife had the pork, which was well cooked, juicy, flavorful, and not dry, like in so many other places. It was a thick cut, too. I don't know how the chef does it! I will be going back, in a few days for my birthday, to try the filet. Fine dining, in Elgin. Definitely worth the drive from Austin. Easily as good, or better, than any of the fine dining restaurants in Austin, that I...
