I'm a local, and I go to this place fairly regularly. It has an absolutely wonderful deli and juice bar (and also ice cream). Top quality smoothies and sandwiches. We are so fortunate to have this type of place in town!
How to make it better? There are many cattle ranches in the area that grow grass fed beef, could we get it sold at Elma Farm Stand? What about fresh local fruit and vegetables? A huge berry farm (Spooner) in Olympia trucks their berries out to Aberdeen to sell in a parking lot stand, but they do not stop in Elma to supply the "farm stand". It would be nice if they did.
There are huge plots of land all around here with arable land for growing. The brady farming community, grows tons of corn, potatoes, squash, etc. I feel like the "Elma Farm stand" really should be a true outlet for local farmers and ranchers to come and sell their products, but as it stands, it is not in any way close to that. What we really need is to encourage a culture of farmers in grays harbor, to grow organic nutritious foods without pesticides LOCALLY and then sell them locally for our residents. And I would love to see Elma Farm Stand...
Read moreThe ice cream was excellent, and the employees were friendly. But much of the produce was not fresh. In fact, there were some limes and clementines that were almost all mold! Brown celery and greens, etc. You'd think a "farm stand" would prioritize fresh produce, so that was pretty disappointing. I was the only customer in the store too, so it's not like they were too busy to check it. Very high prices on the normal natural & organic brands. To give you an idea, even the things in the 50% off bin were higher than regular price at most stores. This place has some good potential, which is what makes these things so disappointing. You can tell they are trying to expand in what they offer, which is cool, but at the same time, maybe work on what you already have first. Just saying.
Also (not part of review, just FYI) they do NOT carry organic meat, just...
Read moreNot my favorite place to visit anymore. I only stop in when I really don't want to deal with the nonsense at Everybody's. Every time I have bought fruit from here it has never been very fresh. I have said something in the past to both the managers and have gotten really snobby responds from both of them. They both act like they don't even want to be there. They clearly can not manage effectively either. They both act like spoiled brats. The employee turn around rate there is very high. A couple of my local buddies know the owner of the building and tell me all the time this farm stand is just a project for his wife to run and to keep her busy and to make a little extra money. But you can clearly tell she doesn't really want to be doing this. Some of the staff has been very kind and helpful, but listening to how they are talked down too is...
