Just like most of the other reviews here, we too were passing through on vacation. It was a Saturday afternoon, and we were super hungry but looking for a place to still get breakfast food. We found The Rusty Tractor online and decided to give them a try. The parking lot wasn't packed with cars, and it seemed as though the morning rush was over and so we went in to meet a sign reading "Please wait to be seated". We stood there for a few minutes and noticed that we were in the opening room of a quaint little diner. There was a bar with stools, a small gift shop area and then hallways that lead to other rooms throughout the building. We could hear talking and laughter coming from the other rooms and had expected to be taken to one soon when a woman in passing told us we could sit right there. Right, there was a table immediately to our right with no place settings and no menus on it. This room was cold too, but we sat down and waited patiently. After five more minutes or so, we still hadn't been approached by any wait staff. No one greeted us, no one took our beverage order, no one brought place settings or menus or even glasses of water. My wife got up and went and found some menus and brought them back to our table and so we started to look through them to see what we would want to order. That's when the woman who had been helping the people at the bar area started to help the group of people who had come in after we did. That was enough for us. My wife and I both work in fields that require exceptional customer service, so our standards are pretty high. We decided in that moment that we did not want to support this establishment any longer and we sure weren't going to pay our hard-earned money to them for being treated like we didn't exist. Maybe they get enough business that it just doesn't matter to them but as a couple of hungry travelers, it mattered to us, and I hope it matters to those reading this because no one should subject themselves to this type of disrespect and treatment. It's a shame that I'm not writing this review right now and raving about the truly amazing food that they serve because that would suit me and The Rusty Tractor much, much better. They are not on my list of places that I will not return. Thanks...
Read moreThis was rough. We got seated, watered, placed our order (good start) then waited a noticeably long time for food, then as soon as plates hit the table, the waitress disappeared.
The brisket dip sounded amazing on paper: brisket sandwich with grilled peppers and a vat of molten cheese. What came out was crumbles of brisket (should always be served as slabs, or at minimum, slices) which due to their size, tumbled out from the untoasted Franz Bread roll and into the fridge-cold nacho cheese... the kind of cheese that sits half-eaten from a jar at a low-rent Super Bowl party.
Since the waitress wasn't checking on our table, I brought it up to the register and asked if they could warm up my cheese. A quick round in the microwave, and we're back in action. But it remained such a paltry amount of meat, and such poor execution as a sandwich designed to be dipped. Wait, wasn't this supposed to include peppers? But by now the waitress was nowhere to be seen. Saddened by this $17 sandwich, we were ready by this point to GTFO.
We go up to pay, and I expressed my grievance about the peppers. Waitress got ornery with me. "Why didn't you say something?" I did. And I am again, right now. Also, it’s waitstaff’s job to make sure food looks right when it comes out the kitchen, not mine.
She made a show of reminding the kitchen that this plate (which they’ve run as a special for almost a week now) should include peppers in the future but that didn't really make things right for us in the present. No discount, no apology. Just a 3% upcharge for using a card.
Who are these people leaving 5 star reviews? I know that Big Portions are enough to satisfy most of my Grays Harbor neighbors, but this plate lacked both quality AND quantity. Good luck, Dusty Tractor. Totally...
Read moreA friend and myself stopped at the Rusty Tractor for lunch. A man and his two kids walked in at the same time we did. A waitress stood about 25ft away at the entrance to the dining room and yelled, "How many?" The man didn't answer cuz his kids were distracting him. So I put up 3 fingers to her across the room and said "three" for the guy since he'd got there just before the two of us. The waitress looked irritated and very rudely said, "fine" like she didn't understand (cuz she wouldn't just walk over and talk to us.) So she walked to the till and rang some stuff up. The she said again across the room, "how many!" I said again louder, "three! An adult and 2 children" Then the waitress said, "are you all 5 together!?" I said, "no 3 of them and 2 of us" Ultimately we were sat down but the waitress hates her job. I had a bad feeling about the whole sketchy place so I just ordered a sandwich. A BLT. When I started eating it, it was disgusting because they'd burnt the toast and just served it anyway. I choked down the first half of the sandwich but couldn't eat anymore despite being pretty hungry. I told the waitress that it was gross and I choked down half of it but couldn't eat the rest. I had the second half apart and the burnt was clearly visible as was the tiny single half tomato. The waitress said she would "discount" the bill. Instead of just not charging me for that disgusting food, she charged me half price. I would never go there again.
