Betty's Blow Dry and Beauty Bar — Local services in Elmhurst

I utilized their blowout services in June for my “rehearsal dinner hair” and it was ok. I’ve had better in the city, but I wanted something local for the convenience and so it was fine. At the appointment the woman doing my blowout noticed my hair extensions and said that they could do them a bit cheaper and with better quality hair. I had JUST had a new set put in (for the wedding), and so wanted to wait for those to need to be fully replaced before I tried it out. It would be nice to get it done local and not have to travel to the city for such a routine service.

I’ve been going to my guy for yearssssss and maybe a change up would be nice.

So, I called yesterday and am told they can’t come to the phone, fine. Then immediately I get a text? You can text but not answer a phone? Ok. I re-explain what I had left in my voicemail via text (same as above) and the “response” was “we can get you a full set of eyelash extensions such and such time.” No, I said HAIR extensions. And while eyelashes are technically hair - not what I meant. Then she says, sorry - we can do a touch up such and such time. But I’d already explained that I needed my current set (because they are adhered differently) removed and a whole new set put in - not a touch up. I specifically explained this because I assume it would add extra time to the appointment and the person would need to know how to remove these (I was told at my appointment in June they would be able to get them out).

Texting goes back and forth with the person responding CLEARLY not reading or comprehending what I had asked. It was almost comical, but also rude and horrible customer service. I asked if we could handle this over the phone - since they are a business I would expect that service to be standard. No. They have yet to call me back.

I’ve been with my guy for years and extensions are not cheap. With new hair every 2-3 months and upkeep it’s 4kplus a year. You would think that would be business they would want. But their’s is a business run via text but the person responding is apparently illiterate. It gives you the feel of a startup run out of someone’s basement, part time. I’m glad I had this experience BEFORE switching over to them. Not the level of customer service or professionalism that will help keep longterm good paying clients. Maybe younger people are ok with a half-assed text response - but not myself or a lot of others. I wonder how much business this lackadaisical approach to handling customers loses them? It lost this one. If I could give zero...

I highly recommend any bride in the area reaching out to book a consultation with the makeup artist Karrianne and up-do stylist Michelle at Betty’s Blow Dry and Beauty Bar. Karrianne and Michelle met with me to discuss wedding day makeup and hair styles and to do a trial run. Both listened to my thoughts and ideas and worked meticulously on the trial run. After which they made notes of what I liked and what I wanted changed for the actual day.
