IF YOU'RE ON THE FENCE ABOUT THIS PLACE OR WEAR ABOVE SIZE 36 JEANS READ THIS!
I live in LA and pass here often. I saw the pics read the reviews and been looking forward to finally stopping by...today was the day...dropped a bill on 3 pairs of pants. After one visit I can confidently say this is my favorite place on earth to shop for denim (a distant #2 is Crossroads in LA). I brought six pairs of jeans to the dressing room and couldve bought all six (practicing self control lol). Anyone with a low review for this place just doesnt get it and I'll tell you why.
First off, about me...when it comes to jeans I like designs, dyes, stains, rips, etc. But i wear a 38-40 with big legs and thighs so finding cool jeans is a real chore (Zara and H&M stop at 36). When I saw denim was their specialty, I had to check it out. Now lets get into it...
Pros:
Lots of choices for 38+ waist sizes. NO SKINNY OR SLIM JEANS!!! No two jeans are the same. Price (more on that later). 85% of the denim are levis and wrangler. Some are even heavy duty (made for ACTUAL WORK).
Cons:
Sizing. They had racks marked by size but lots were out of place and finding the size on the jeans was time consuming because none of them are tagged. You have to look inside most of the jeans to find the size. A tab on the hanger would be ideal. Im gonna lose sleep wondering if i missed a perfect pair of jeans that were in the wrong section lol.
Now as for some of the common complaints in these reviews...
"I wont pay $30 for "used" "thrift store" denim". First of all, if youre just looking for plain basic jeans and dont really care about how they hang, bunch, design, fall over your sneakers, etc, then sure, youd probably do better price wise at Ross or a Goodwill. To you, jeans are jeans so yeah, I get your point. Also if you wear like a size 32 waist, you can find good jeans anywhere so maybe you can do better elsewhere. However if you dont fall into these categories, sanithrift is levels above those places.
"I wont pay $30 for "clothes with stains and holes"... Levis sells jeans with stains, rips, and all type fake wear and tear for $60-70 on the regular. "Upscale" denim like Polo or Scotch and Soda for $150 +. Saks, Bloomingdales, etc sells those styles for $200-$300+ and youre complaining about getting the same designs for $30??? Also EVERY store has items that we know are overpriced so I dont see why sanithrift should be penalized...just buy the jeans you think are worth $30!
"I can get denim for cheaper at Ross!" Look I love Ross, Burlington, Marshalls, etc. Yes i can get a pair of jeans for $20 there. But do i actually want the jeans that they have on any given day? I find good jeans on average 1 out of every 50 Ross trips. Probably less. First, the selection of mens sizes 38 and up are very small. On top of that about 65% of the inventory will be skinny/slim jeans. Then half of whats left are stretch jeans (eww) or off brand jeans (beverly hills polo club, etc lol) The small percentage of levis, lee, wranger etc that you are left with (if anything is left) will be the most basic, plainest jeans in the world. Zero character. Dont get me wrong, ive scored some excellent denim out of there...but its not often and since i left slim jeans alone (never did skinny!) its even more rare. At sanithrift every pair has personality, uniqueness...i dont have to thumb thru offbrands or skinny jeans because they dont carry them! Im basically paying for the fact that they sifted through all the stuff I wouldnt want anyway and left me nothing but the best!
This place is awesome, and i know everyone has their own tastes and opinions but I can soundly say that anyone that doesnt like this place just doesnt know any better. Seriously. I cant tell you the last time if ever ive walked out of one store with three pairs of jeans. And to do it for less than $100? Ill take that deal all day!
PS. One of the wranglers i bought was made in USA. $30. I dare you to find...

Read moreThis is a super cool, must-visit thrift store. I’ve never been to a thrift store as well organized as this one. Very clean. Loads of racks to look through. The prices are a little on the higher side, but this isn’t really a thrift store you go to looking for cheap clothes, this is one you go to when you’re trying to find a specific style. They have lots of vintage clothes on the racks, including loads of 90’s Levi’s. Racks and racks of flannels. The only downfall is they don’t have a huge amount of plus sized clothes. The racks only go up to XXL, but not everything in those sections was truly an XXL. Some larger sizes sprinkled in, but very very few pieces 3X or above. I know a lot of vintage clothes didn’t really have bigger sizes, but I still wish there was a little more to sort-through for plus size.
Overall if you’re an XL or lower size, who wants a cool place to widen your wardrobe with unique thrifty pieces, this is definitely it. The mall it is in is basically dead though, so don’t expect a whole day of mall shopping. Only a handful of other stores are left, but there is some cool artwork on the walls inside...
