It's troubling to see meat from this farm in stores, considering the reports about their practices. The farms owners have in the past been seen collecting leftover scraps from local restaurants for animal feed, which raises serious concerns about the meat quality. Moreover, it's said that much of the meat they sell isn't even raised on their farm, and the meat they do raise is often considered low quality. The conditions for the animals are far from ideal, with inadequate housing and poorly maintained pastures that are more like fenced-in swamps than proper grass pastures.
This farm represents many of the issues people criticize about homesteading, with a focus on building a brand rather than ensuring quality from day one. If you're looking for quality meat, there are much better options available, both in stores and from other local farms that maintain higher standards. Supporting those operations is a far better choice than...
Read moreWe never knew this place was there until it popped up on our google maps on our way back from downstate. It is off the beaten path in Escanaba, which is why we never saw it before. We walked in and was kindly greeted by Nick. Nice guy! The amount of proteins of all choices that this little store has is amazing. They also have lots of cheeses. The owner was working and kindly introduced himself to us too. Very friendly. We opted for two New York Strips and some salad fixings to go. Grilled them at home and they were tasty. They have a large freezer section of so many meats, etc. I even saw alligator in the freezer! Yum! (Next time)It's a store that seems very retro when you walk in. Like stepping back in time. We appreciated the friendly conversation that both employees had with us. Definitely go check them out and support your local business owner. I am attaching some photos. We will return again. Good luck with...
Read moreI want to give a huge shout out to Buried in Stone Farm and Farmers Market. We picked up a half a cow that they processed. Besides the fact their knowledgeable butcher spoke with me one on one to make sure my cuts were just perfect, the meat cuts look absolutely beautiful. Communication and customer service was over the top. I also had time to browse their meat which includes pork, chicken, sausage, heart, spice, seasoning, casings, etc., while I was at their store. Everything looks amazing. Prices are incredibly reasonable for good quality food. I strongly encourage everyone to check them out. I live in Marquette but will be doing some trips to Esky just to grab other things at their store. I felt like I stepped into a old fashion, good quality farmers market. I give them 5 stars! Look forward to giving my...
