Living in a small town, I wanted to patronize a local business. I visited Bumper to Bumper here in Estill, SC to ask about a part for my vehicle. The owner of the store informed me that he would order the part and it would be in the next day. I returned the next day as requested and the part was not there. I then asked for a price on the part. The owner of the store said, “Oh, I did not get the price for the part.” I went back the following day and the part still was not there. Three days later the part finally arrived. Once I went to the store to purchase the part, one of the employees told me my total was $53. To my shock, I purchased the part but immediately called O'Reilly's in a neighboring town. To my astonishment, Mike (who was very friendly and knowledgeable) told me the part was $20 cheaper and they could get the part the same day. I went back to Bumper and Bumper to ask about the price of the part. He informed me that his price was higher because it came from the auto parts place.
My parents informed me that this store is in the business of marking up their prices. And I can believe this, from my experience.
